Mr. Pickwick Pub Bern — Restaurant in Bern

We were happy to finding such a place in Bern, with truly good English vibes and the possibility to watching sports events and "singing the national anthem as your rugby team prepares to battle it out" (as it is written on their Internet site)... The beer was also very good. Unfortunately the ad on the site is not true, or at least it wasn't when we went there. I am talking about the Six Nations rugby final match, not just any match. Two different people asked the waiter if we could hear the match instead of the music, and the answer was twice an almost bored "No, I will leave the music". At the end of the first half, there were 15 minutes break before the second one. After 10 minutes, one of the waiters put the screen on a football match. Mind you, there were at least two other screens already on that match. He could at least have done that immediately, we missed 30 minutes of the second half thanks to that. That's a shame because the place is really nice, but I would have expected something different when reading on their site....

It was a random evening, me going to Mr. Pickwick in Bern. The reason for this night out was my friends from Italy being in town and us wanting to watch the game between Italy and Ukraine.

When we arrived there I was not expecting a huge crowd since it was a Monday night, but the least I was expecting was that a person standing behind the counter puts a smile on his face and greets us when we say hi. This is the least an employee should do in a bar or in a restaurant. But unfortunately the big guy was too good to do that and just stood still. Even when I wanted to order he had no reaction and I had to wait for the young lady to take our order.

Of course when you do not feel welcome in a bar you wouldn't visit again. That's what's gonna...

Drinks are on the expensive side, a large beer costs about double what i would pay in another city but maybe that's just because that bar is located in the capital city of Switzerland. Its pretty crowded so don't expect seating available if you show up too late. They have a large choice of beers tho so if you'd want to try different beer its a good place, although keep in mind that the bar is in a British style so those are the beers that they cover mostly. The bathroom are clean and nice and lighting isn't too bright nor too dark which gives a...
