My wife and I both enjoyed our lunch today in this perfectly situated restaurant with an excellent service and good food. Let it be known that the main dishes (Entrecot Cafe de Paris) all come with a salad INCLUDED at no charge just like with the Brasserie de l'entercote restaurant in Geneva, Lisbon, Cascais, tho this restaurant is not affiliated with them. They offer all kinds of cuts, from a 140g lady's cut, all the way up to however much you want to eat (you can choose, if you want 500g, you choose it!). The only concern was that I expected the meat to be more tasty. I believe it was Swiss meat (did not ask, nor check), and as we know, France (French dish) is well known for their sauces, so even if the meat isn't the most tasty one (such as here), the sauce does the trick, and it did it here too, so we ended up still enjoying an excellent service. However, for people that are not a fan of the cafe de paris sauce, be prepared for the meat not to be so juicy nor tasty, it is average, as most cuts from Swiss cows, but do not let this prevent you from visiting that place, you will have good food and an excellent service at an extreme fair price for its location (since a large salad bowl is included in the price, and the salad comes from the local market and people better know that the Swiss have probably the best salad in the world, perhaps to compensate for the...
Read moreI booked a table for 2 with 4 days in advance. When we arrived we found out that our table was a very small setup crammed with other people in a small room upstairs far away from the empty rooms in the rest of the restaurant. It was 18.30 hr so not many people about. There was no reserved sign on the table, whilst we were surrounded with lots of different other tables with the writing reserved and the guest name on it (mostly German sounding names). Our table did not have a reserved sign on and we were given a walk-in table instead. Another couple got sat on a bigger and better table and got served straight away, they also had a reserved sign on it. We were left waiting and got served afterwards. They were locals speaking German. We were crammed in one side of the restaurant with other people all coming from abroad. We were from Ticino with Italian and English heritage. We felt discriminated, treated differently. Very sad to see that there is so much difference in treatment between locals and tourists. I would be extremely curious to understand where their biggest return is from a business point of view?! Also, cutlery and glassware were dirty. Our chips burned. The waiters’ manners not up to scratch and considering the very steep prices, this should be a must. The Verdi Restaurant is a much better option for the same prices. Not impressed. Most likely a...
Read moreVery friendly staff, super tasty food, a bit expensive but absolutely justified for the quality and amount of food you get. They somehow manage to give the impression of an upscale restaurant while also being wonderfully unpretentious. And the location is awesome, particularly if the weather is good enough to sit outdoors (there's indoor seats on two floors, winter garden seats, and actual outdoor seats under some trees with views of the federal parliament building).
If in doubt (and don't mind eating raw beef), get the steak tartare. It's clearly the most popular dish here, and for a reason! You can specify whether you want it "spicy" or not, and a choice of a spirit shot (e g. cognac) is included. Don't drink the shot, mix it into the meat! Simply use your fork to create lots of "holes" in the steak and then pour the spirit on the meat. Also, if you need more toast (you get about 4 slices), just ask for it, it's complimentary. My recommendation is to get it spicy and...
