BE AWARE!! FOOD SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!!!! I had the WORST dining experience during this trip with this restaurant. Here is what happened: A fly is flying around and landed on my food before I finished. We tried best to get it away but no luck. The fly returned and landed multiple times on my food. I took some pictures as proof. We asked the waitress if it’s possible to get some reimbursement as it’s the restaurant’s responsibility to maintain food safety standards. Please note that we only asked for partial as we finished 75% of the food. It’s quite common to ask for full refund as FOOD SAFETY IS REALLY CRITICAL!! The waitress then asked if the manager can help with the reimbursement.
The short-haired manager is RATHER RUDE!! She first refused to offer any reimbursement. She didn’t even apologize for this issue. Instead she asked if I have proof for this. Luckily, I took photos as proof. After looking at the photos, she questioned if you have time to take photos, why don’t you or ask someone to get the fly away? We are totally upset by this. She assumed that we are trying to find trouble for them! As I mentioned, the fly landed my the food multiple times. We tried our best to get it away at first time. But we are not able to. I took photos when the fly continues to land on the food. As you can see from the photos attached. I also have videos for that. The manager also said the fly is not in the food it’s just on the food. OMG, I can’t believe a restaurant manager can say things like this. I’m totally upset. I noticed the fly landed on the glasses and cutleries on other tables setup for the customers afterwards.
I understand that it’s hard to control the fly or other insects. BUT shouldn’t the restaurant do something to avoid this? Also, the way that the restaurant handle the issue is most disappointing, much worse than the fly on the food issue.
I’m most concerned with food safety and sanity. I’ll try to report what happened to us today to the departments for the local food safety. For people who are considering this restaurant, please try to switch to other restaurants if you can. You never know if a fly has already landed on your glass, plates or cutlery before you have food. Even you catch this, what the restaurant can do is treat you...
Read moreLocation is worth 5 stars no doubt- on top of Bern with a view over the historical city. The restaurant is located in a very nice rosegarden with locals and tourists visiting it.
The restaurant: Booking a table with the wish to have a view from the veranda in direction to the city was fulfilled. We were a group of 12 people. Half of the group made quite similar orders the other half ordered diffrent dishes from the summer card. About 1/3 of our group was just about satisfied with what they ordered at that evening. An example what we experienced: 3 people from our table ordered the „entrecote with french fries and a salad apart“, 2 medium and one of them medium-well. Two waiters swapped the dishes unfortunatly and were not able to give us the right plates(overstrained and with a slightly rude attitude the whole evening through). 2 of them were overcooked meaning „well done“ and 1 of them was raw and even still cold in its center! The biggest „pain in the arse“ was that our plates were 3/4 filled with fries and the rest was stuffed with a tiny thin piece (aprox. 150g) of second to even third quality of very fatty, very corded and maybe even a very tight vakuumed piece of meat(i believe loin/entrecote), This menu had its unbelievable price of 44.50 swiss franks.
The greek salad for my friend came wrong first and then came without olives and with a poor ammount of crumbled feta cheese again the small plate filled with leaf lettuce price 27.50 swiss franks!!
As a well experienced swiss chef cook i think that quite a few people in the kitchen were not able to cope with the over expensive menu card and were uncapeable to pleight us their „good looking“ card... In the restaurant itself by visiting the WC we all watched that the staff didnt talk with each other and had a safe distance to another...
Such a pitty to make this very bad experience at such a pretty place. Our group all knows/ thinks now that this restaurant can only survive because of its excellent...
Read moreOur visit to Rosengarten, perched atop a hill with a stunning garden in front, promised an enchanting experience. Although we couldn’t secure an outdoor seat without a reservation, the restaurant’s interior ambiance was still pleasant. After dinner, we ventured outside and were captivated by the awe-inspiring views of Bern city.
The mains we tried offered a mix of delightful surprises and mediocre outcomes.
The Pork Chops with Herbal Crust, accompanied by a luscious port wine jus, baby potatoes, and vegetables, stole the show. The meat was cooked to perfection, tender, and paired harmoniously with the rich and savory sauce. A definite must-try that left a lasting impression.
On the other hand, the Grilled Chicken Breast with Rocket Salad and Tomato-Bruschetta was somewhat lackluster. The meat was slightly tough, and the overall dish fell into the realm of mediocrity.
Similarly, the Seared Trout Fillet with Homemade Salsa Verde, Potatoes, and Vegetables left us with mixed feelings. The fish itself was fresh, but the salsa verde sauce might not be to everyone’s taste, making it an average choice.
For those who enjoy pasta dishes, the Basil Potato Gnocchi with Bocconicini-Mozzarella and Creamy Lemon Sauce offered a delectable treat. Its flavorsome combination and easy-to-eat nature make it another dish worth trying.
Without a doubt, the highlight of Rosengarten is the breathtaking view of Bern city from the restaurant’s surroundings. Taking a post-dinner walk outside to soak in the scenic beauty made the dining experience even more memorable.
In summary, Rosengarten’s ambiance and the heavenly Pork Chops with Herbal Crust make it a place worth visiting. While some dishes might fall into the average category, the overall experience, coupled with the restaurant’s beautiful setting, makes it a destination to cherish. Next time, I’ll make sure to book a table outdoors to fully embrace the enchanting views while savoring their...
