I went there with a group of friends (9 people total), at the end of the service we asked if it were possible to pay seperately with credit card, the waiter said it wouldn't be, and we didn't really press the issue, so each of us had to go to the ATM 2 streets away in turn to withdraw money, because it's 2021 and we expect to be able to pay with credit card, especially in a place at the heart of the Locarno, during a major film festival. The pizza was nevertheless good, so we came back the day after, this time we asked beforehand if we could pay by card, seperately; the waiter said he would "have to ask" (who?). So we sit and wait, no one pays any attention to us or even brings us a menu for a solid 15 minutes. Eventually a different waiter does bring us menus, and as he does so I reiterate our request to pay seperately by card. The waiter, being extremely impolite and rude in his response, keeps saying it would be a huge waste of time for them to do so and that we're (the paying customers) are not trying to help him (the paid waiter) out. I tell him it would take him just 5 minutes to have us all pay by card seperately, he says it would take 5 minutes just to get my single payment done. After some back and forth we decide to leave, and as we do so the same waiter says that "not even americans behave like this". We walk a hundred meters at most, to the next restaurant "il portico", before sitting we ask the guy if we might please all pay by card, seperately. He responds "of course you can, what's the issue, why wouldn't be able to?". Food selection isn't as varied as dell'Angelo, but quality is good. When the time to pay comes we decide to time how much it takes the guy to process our payment. It took him 6 minutes and 47 seconds, and he went to take other customers' orders inbetween. I will never go back to this place unless they bring some very needed changes to the...
Read moreLocated quite at the end of Piazza Grande street, with a good choice for the hungry visitor walking the streets of Locarno. With a simple yet tasty offering menu, this place can for sure surprise you. Unlike some of the reviews I read, the service was fast and the staff very polite, kind, and funny. Ciccio (I hope am not misspelling his name) took care of us and was very attentive and always checking in if all ok - a treat that you see less and less those days. Food was correct and very tasty. There isn’t something I could fairly say was not good. Good food is supposed to be simple and that’s something the team at this restaurant gets it done very well. A good stop if you are in to enjoy the buzz of the...
Read moreordered spaghetti and a pizza. the tomato sauce tasted re-heated and canned. the pizza was edible, though nothing spectacular, it was very oily, and again, the tomato sauce on top definitely wasn't fresh. the service was alright; not too welcoming but not rude either. one thing that annoyed me was one waiter never properly had their mask on, even upon closer contact. and the way they "disinfect" tables definitely isn't sterile. (all they used was a damp cloth to brush the crumbs off the surface).
it's a shame that a restaurant in such a beautiful location serves such low-quality food with poor service and...
