Café Restaurant des Voyageurs — Restaurant in Geneva

We just held a large private event at Café Restaurant des Voyageurs this afternoon (for 50 people). I would give more than 5 stars if I could! David and the entire team was a dream to work with! We didn't hear the word 'No' from them throughout the entire planning process. No matter what we asked or needed, the answer was always, 'Yes, yes, we can do it, no problem!' They created a beautiful and varied menu for 70 CHF/pp (options: veal shoulder, filets de perch or risotto with aragula). The starter salads were delicious (they also offered a meat terrine) and very substantial, and the same for the main plates and dessert (apple tart or panna cotta). Plus they kindly provided to-go boxes for those who couldn't finish their meals. The Prosecco was delicious and they were very generous with the red and white wine. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and welcoming, the service was excellent and seamless. We had several speakers and the staff took care to work quietly/pause so that we could focus our attention on them. Look, I wanted to like this place but no dice. The risotto had to be sent back twice for being absurdly underdone (like rocks), and the steak we ended up ordering was merely mediocre. then when the bill came they tried to charge us for risotto we hadn’t eaten. When I (gently!) pointed out their error in leaving the risotto on the bill, the manager came over and harangued us for not liking his “authentic” risotto while trying to get me to pay for it. I’m not here to say that I know all there is to know about risotto, but I’ve made it a fair few times and eaten it in Italy more than once and never before have I eaten risotto like that. Quaint family restaurant where the locals eat. When I visited I didn't see any tourists and people were eating things on a secret menu. So if you don't know what you want to eat just ask what else they have as their menu changes with the season and what fresh produce they can get.
