I recently had the pleasure of dining at L'Edelweiss Fondue Restaurant during my visit to Geneva, and I must say it was a delightful experience. Nestled in the heart of the city, this charming restaurant offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a traditional Swiss fondue.
Upon entering L'Edelweiss, I was immediately struck by its rustic Alpine decor, complete with wooden beams, warm lighting, and traditional Swiss artifacts adorning the walls. The ambiance exudes a sense of Swiss mountain charm, transporting you to a cozy chalet in the Swiss Alps.
The menu at L'Edelweiss primarily focuses on fondue, and they offer a variety of options to satisfy different tastes. From classic cheese fondue to meat fondue and even chocolate fondue for dessert, there is something for everyone. Their cheese fondue is made with a blend of high-quality Swiss cheeses, resulting in a smooth and flavorful mixture that is perfect for dipping bread, vegetables, and other ingredients.
The meat fondue allows you to cook your own bite-sized pieces of meat in a hot broth, providing an interactive and enjoyable dining experience.
The service at L'Edelweiss was exceptional throughout my visit. The staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience was enjoyable. They were more than happy to explain the fondue process and offer recommendations based on personal preferences.
In terms of portion sizes, the fondue pots were ample and allowed for sharing between two or more people. But be careful as they will charge you 15 FS for the person who does not command.
One aspect that impressed me was the quality of ingredients used in the dishes. The cheeses were of excellent quality, and the meat for the fondue was fresh and tender.
L'Edelweiss is definitely worth a visit...
Read moreFrom the reviews I wanted to experience the restaurant for its food and live music. Unfortunately when I asked for a table for one I was told "no", they could not give me a table for only one person. This is not the first time in the world that they have done this to me as restaurants prefer to only have tables for large accounts. A female receptionist told me in Spanish that it was impossible because there was no tables, while inside there were people eating alone and people were arriving without reservations. I commented that there was no advice on the door that single people could not be served and I began to notice her nervousness when I pointed out that this was an episode of discrimination against me.
The receptionist said that those passing by were "special people". I never understood why she was denying me service. A receptionist came out to tell me to leave, that I was not going to be served and hurried to put up a sign that said "private events only", while people continued to arrive. I pointed out to him that there were no indications that such a situation was announced either at the door or on social networks. In a country like Switzerland it is very embarrasing that there are this kind...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing experience here. 10/10, must-visit! We were told they may not be able to get us in, because people normally make reservations far in advance- we walked in around 9:30 pm and they got us a table for dessert & fondue. We had the chocolate fondue, and Edelweiss cheese fondue, and everything was delicious- much better than several other restaurants, we had eaten at all over Switzerland. It was very traditionally decorated, but with a modern & very elevated feel. We loved the bells, clocks, elegant lighting, and we had a window seat up high, overlooking the main dining area- which I definitely recommend. Everything was very clean, the staff was extremely professional and kind, and it was also quick & attentive service, even at the end of the night. To top everything off, they had someone playing live traditional music and he was so talented. He played an accordian, the Swiss Alphorn, and traditional Swiss bells! It was incredible. ...
