Gelatomania Pâquis — Restaurant in Geneva

Hot day but I needed a coffee.. the solution could be "affogato al caffe'".. it means you take an espresso and you pour it on a cup of gelato. It's delicious. But as in geneva this is not a concept (as in most world outside italy) I got myself an espresso in a plastic cup and went to gelatomania near Plainpalais to get my gelato. Now of course to do this you need some extra space in your gelato cup.. So I asked: can you put the quantity of gelato that fits in a small cup in a big cup? I thought it was going to be pretty simple.. ah! I was wrong! Not possible! It's not possible to do that and it's not possible to have an empty cup.. unless of course you want to pay the full 8 francs for an empty cup.. in that case you can have it.. Do they value their gelato so little that the paper cup is the most important thing? In addition they don't have a garbage bin in or just outside their shop! Quite uncivilised. I might go back to make more tests on how much people are...

Good ice cream and nice employees. I have been a regular for 6 months, however it was weird today when we asked for an ice cream cone for our kid who changed his mind after buying it with cup, they wanted to charge another full ice cream price for a cone. They have unique flavors such as black sesame and popcorn! Super friendly and patient staff while we are trying to pick our flavors. You can try any flavor if you request for it.
