PRETTY PATTY - Smash Burger - Plainpalais — Restaurant in Geneva

When you go in, you'll be wedged between the wall with the choice of 4 burgers they offer, and a group of 4 charming persons ready to take your order and craft the delicious burger destined to a swift devouring.

As for the food, I must say I was surprised. Coming from a Japanese-european food environment, I was sceptical about the process of smashing a patty, but oh boy was I wrong. Smashing it makes it so that the exterior of the patty is well grilled and crunchy, and the center is tender and juicy. It's genius. It gives you a different mouth feel at every bite, and so it's never a boring eat. The secret sauce is mellow with a soft punch in aftertaste (a jab more like) and a hint of acidity, and it avoids overwhelming the rest of the ingredients. It's strange to say but I felt at home while eating this burger all the while the couple on the next table was breaking up. I recommend it. The fries are crunchy but not too much, and have a very soft center, you'll never have dry fries here. They put paprika salt and i think pepper on it (probably) and the portions are good.

According to the waitress (who was choking up because of how good the burgers are probably) every burger start out with 2 smashed patties because it's how they envision it, and then you can add extra.

The decoration is something reminiscent of a small town US burger joint, with a twinge of Korean pop art. They are very dedicated on dressing up the interior, and everything is using the trademark blue, white and red colour palette, with the iconic "P" used as a pattern. It's bold and very clever, it's solid branding.

The toilet is clearly overkill by far, it's like pretty patty after dark, with a backlit button operable mirror, clean toilets, and a disco ball 🪩

All in all, I have nothing but good things to say on this place. The people behind the grill were all very nice and full of life, and it adds so much to this burger joint. The burgers and people here are like a sunset, breathtaking every time.

However, if you're looking for a light snack or want to try a variety of burgers, it could still be worth a visit. Considering the portion sizes, I must admit that the prices seemed a bit steep. While the quality of the ingredients was good, the overall value for money wasn't outstanding. You might end up paying a little more than you would expect for the quantity of food you receive.

The seating area is limited, and the atmosphere lacks the cozy ambiance that you might expect in a traditional sit-down restaurant. A really great burger joint. Very cool decor with fun LA style packaging.

I had the Fancy Double (2 smashed beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, secret sauce all between to soft potato buns) with the Golden Fries.

Fries were very good, similar style to McDonalds but of course a much better version. Crispy and salty with a soft interior.

The burger itself was honestly great as well. I love potato buns and these were among the best I’ve had. Patties were well seasoned and the other ingredients blended in well. (Though we need a burger which has pickles!) Burger was easy to eat and not too greasy.

The only issues I have is pricing, I do think it is slightly overpriced. The portions aren’t that big either. If you’re hungry you could probably eat two burgers, which I saw some fancy looking business men do. They must’ve probably paid 40 bucks each, which sounds pretty crazy.

I paid 20 francs in total with no drink and had to pay an extra 50cents for sauce for the fries.

I think introducing some kind of combo menu would be way more appealing.
