The Château de Gruyères Restaurant is an absolute gem, and it deserves every one of its 5 stars! We’ve been coming to this restaurant for years, often as a big family group, and every single visit has been exceptional. The staff here go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, no matter the size of the group or the complexity of our needs. Their warmth and professionalism create an atmosphere that feels both elegant and inviting.

The food is simply outstanding—authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re indulging in their traditional Swiss dishes or exploring other menu options, every bite is a delight. The fondue is, of course, a standout, but so are the other regional specialties, which are prepared with incredible care and quality.

The location adds an extra layer of charm. Dining in such a historic and picturesque setting, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside, makes the experience truly unforgettable. The attention to detail in both the service and the cuisine ensures that every visit is as memorable as the last.

If you’re visiting Gruyères, this restaurant is a must-visit. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience of warm hospitality, excellent food, and beautiful surroundings. Highly...

Had fondue lunch here when in Gruyere. Perfect atmosphere at the edge of a historic town. The building is a lovely old stone building that adds to the atmosphere. The service was very good. Typical Swiss service style, so be ready for not alot of attention or follow-up. More functional than pleasant. The food was good, but some of the descriptions on the menu were inaccurate. We ordered charcuterie and had the ham placed on a dish with some vegetables. Not what we wanted, but we ate the ham. The fondue was rich and creamy. It is served with potatoes for dipping. We also used the bread. Truly enjoyed it. We shared a couple deserts, the one that had too much liquor in it. Probably would not order desert again. Everything was just right for our lunch and it was an amazing experience. Another "American" observation: the bathrooms are downstairs, down a winding stone staircase with no railing. I held it until I could use the bathroom at the...

Le Chalet de Gruyères is much more than a restaurant, it's an authentic experience in the heart of Gruyères village. Swiss chalet architecture adds a charming touch, with a two-storey restaurant. The renovated old barn upstairs offers a cosy atmosphere with period tools, while downstairs, the 'Bistro' offers beautiful wooden tables. Despite the crowds, the welcome is impeccable. It is advisable to book in advance to guarantee your place. The specialities, in particular the "Moitié moitié" (fondue with half Swiss Gruyère and half Vacherin Fribourgeois), are a real delight. The classic 100% Gruyère fondue is also a must. For the hungrier eaters, the dried meat punnets are an excellent accompaniment. And let's not forget, for dessert, the famous Gruyère meringues with double cream, a real treat for the taste buds! I highly recommend this establishment. Many thanks to the charming team for this memorable experience. See you soon! Yours...

Plug and play kitchen. Little or no cooking. Cheese plate was served too cold. Butter in plastic😭. Terrible wine glasses. Cheese sliced not in an ideal way to unfold the flavour. Always avoid restaurants with pictures on the menu 😊. My friend wanted to go. Macaroni with ham was penne... Overcooked. The roast-beef was boring, uninspired. Bread was the highlight 🙄. The, sauce is from an industrial 🏭 source. A restaurant aimed at tourist that are blended by the yes beautiful surroundings. Very nice location. Friendly staff. A shame that the simple menu just is cooked without love and lacks skill. Go for the raclette and little can go wrong. Avoid dishes that involve cooking. Still like gruyère cheese 😋.
