I had the pleasure of enjoying both dinner and breakfast here, and it was an absolute delight! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience feel warm and personal. The menu focuses on local specialties, so there’s a lot of cheese (as expected in Gruyères), but the quality is exceptional—every dish is rich in flavor and thoughtfully prepared. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and the beautiful setting. The local wine was a lovely complement to the meal, and the views from the restaurant added an extra layer of magic to the experience. Breakfast was equally impressive, with a mix of salty and sweet options that were more than enough to satisfy. Everything felt fresh and perfectly balanced to start the day. Highly recommended!

They seem to be understaffed or they just need to do something with how they work. I arrived at 16, and took maybe 30 minutes before my table was cleaned from the last before me. Then I when I ordered maybe after 10-15 minutes I didn’t get the food before 17:30, they had forgot to tell the chef they said. I got an extra hot chocolate for that. It seemed like they prioritized to do the wrong things so customers had to wait for a long time. It was also freezing where I sat on the table next to the door. So they should isolate better or do something so it won’t be that cold when sitting inside. I had to have a down jacket on and I had already a wool sweater on. The food was good, but over all experience and service was not good.

I visited this place on a Wednesday Dec 21st, 2022 for lunch. Location: Located almost at the entrance of Gruyere Medieval City. It has outside and inside seating. Ambience: Christmassy and cozy environment. Most people tourists. Service: Very polite and attentive staff. They speak english, Spanish, german. Food: The two dishes we ordered were delicious. We had a salad and a traditional dish. Portions are big, so one dish should be enough. Drinks: We had a Belgian Res Fruity beer. Half a litter and it was worth trying. Tips: No tipping in Switzerland. Price: About $40 per person (Meal + Drink + Coffee) There are a few options in this area but this one I think standout just by looking at the menu.

We arrived at 12h20. We booked a table for 12h30. There was 2 waitresses for about 10-15 tables. They were running non-stop and I believe they are doing their best. We waited for 15 minutes for the menus to come. Another 30 minutes after that we have our drinks and a small basket of bread. We ordered the cheese fondue with truffe, 1 baked cheese plate, 1 bowl of seasonal vegetable, 1 plate of dried meat, 1 bowl of picked cucumber & onion. Other tables which ordered food way after us got served long before us. We got impatient since our schedule will be wrecked because of all this restaurant delay. It was already 14h00. We asked a waitress where was our order. She came back with all our dishes. So it took them 90 minutes to get our food ready. Incredible long waiting time. The food is just decent. The price is on the touristic region average price. So no surprise here. And also, you might want to reserve ahead to prevent not getting a place to eat in Gruyère. I'm not even...

We started by just ordering water, specifically asking for tap water. The waitress seemed to speak decent English, so we thought she understood. Later a different staff member came by with chilled water in a fancy bottle. She had opened the bottle before arriving to the table and poured it out for us. We told her that we had ordered tap water, but she didn't speak any english. She sent the waitress back and we told her what happened, so she went to speak with her manager and came back saying that since the bottle was already opened, there was nothing that they could do. We tried advocating for ourselves but they wouldn't do anything about it They charged us 11.50CHF for water that we did not order. The fondue itself was really good, but some of the bread served with it was stale which made the whole experience very frustrating. Would NOT recommend...

Excellent service and food. The prices are lower, the service was instant and they let us share fondue ie two orders for five people. It was plenty, delicious and excellent bread. It was the best we have had in Switzerland so far! Excellent double cream dessert. Tried it with raspberries and meringue. The waitress suggested it with meringue and she was right. It's a must try. Won't find this double cream elsewhere. They have tables on street, overlooking valley in back, inside and upstairs. Wonderful service and bathroom upstairs. This was best of three places we tried. We had waited for fifteen minutes at a restaurant across the street and the waitress only brought menus. Went to another restaurant and the food was even more expensive. Stopped here and the prices are lower for same food, they allow sharing, and service is very friendly...
