I don't often post reviews but we were a table of 3 and 1 teen and spent 1000 CHF on dinner and were disappointed, so I feel the need to share.
I will start by saying the venue is really beautiful.
The service: For a modern and expensive restaurant, the service was not very good and rather inattentive - I think they don't have enough staff yet and should not be taking so many reservations that the quality of service drops so much. We were rushed to order and then sometimes got no service whatsoever. It was also not clear who our server was. The woman taking our order didn't know the menu well. We ordered the seafood tower and she said there was fish on it (the various types already on the menu, she said), and that was not the case. It turned out to be a shellfish tower. I ordered the tarte tatin and ordered some ice cream with it but then saw after that under the crust, there already was ice cream and the server didn't say anything. The people who brought the food didn't know who had which dish and for every course, came to our table and called out the dishes. When you're paying the prices you are, the expectation is higher than when you are at a casual restaurant. We also waited an hour between one of our courses. With empty wine glasses on top of that.
The food was not that great. The seafood tower, for example, which comes with grilled and deep fried crab, came lukewarm. The fried soft shell crab came with your standard Thomy mayo as a dipping sauce. No finger bowl either. We each ordered 3-5 courses and unfortunately only 1 of those dishes stood out. Most were poorly-executed interpretations of classic French dishes trying to be modern, but failed to impress visually or by taste.
The management. At one point, a man, who I assume to be the manager, stopped by our table and we gave fairly honest feedback. They got our dessert order wrong plus the crust to the Apple tarte tatin was a bit burnt and tasted bitter. The dessert also arrived cold, when it should be served warm. His answer was not very accommodating and he was not open to the criticism. When we left, we saw him close to the door having a drink while we stood at the door hoping someone might come around to help us locate our coats. No one did and neither did he.
As someone who used to work in the hospitality industry, I have a lot of understanding for some of the mistakes they made, which had something to do with the fact that they're a new team and still have to find their rhythm. On the other hand, some of the problems were really basic and, from what I could see, stem...
Read moreHonestly, probably one of the worst dining experiences we've had while abroad. We were staying in a hotel nearby and was excited to have a place on the Michelin Guide so close, so this was such a disappointment.
We had a table of 4 with a reservation. One ordered the 4-course menu with wine pairing while the rest of us ordered one appetizer to share and one main each. We were told there would be a wait because of the 4-course so that she'd have her 2 courses first then we'd all get our mains together. This was totally fine! We understood.
Our appetizer came out along with her first course the followed by her second. Everything was great so far. Our server was amazing. However, after this, everything went completely downhill. After 2.5 hours, 3 other tables who were seated after us were given appetizers and entrees AND 2 completed them. Right next to us was a 5 top seated after us and they had full appetizer, mains, and dessert before us. To top it off, my husband ordered the octopus and it was not edible. Overcooked and rubber. I ordered the steak medium rare and it was cooked medium well. The bouillabaisse was more of a chowder than traditional French. The 4-course main was bland. It seemed like everything had been sitting under warming lights and overcooked. Basically, after a 2.5 hour wait, the mains were just so-so or inedible.
Our waiter finally took our dishes and didn't ask why we didn't finish half of them. We asked for the check and to skip the last course and wine of the 4-course as we didn't know how long it'd be and didn't want to be there for 3+ hours. It was close to 10m already and had to get up early. We also asked for the octopus to be taken off the check as it was inedible. We were hoping to also get a portion of the 4 course refunded as well, but this did not happen.
Overall, a waste of $500+ and time and would NOT...
Read moreI'll start off by saying the decor is beautiful! However, the service is horrible. When we arrived we asked for a table for 3. The host at the front said she had to ask if there was a table although the place was basically empty when we arrived. But I just looked past that after being seated.
We sat outside but the beautiful plants attracted a lot of bees. We ordered martinis and I think the fruit attracted the bees even more as they literally flew inside our drinks. (That's no fault to the restaurant). I asked to move indoors and asked to get new drinks. They made the drinks, tossed the original drinks and we went on about dinner service. Service was subpar to say the least. We asked to order another round of cocktails but after waiting 30 minutes we never received them and just asked for the check.
When we received the check it had 6 drinks in total (2 that were tossed, 2 we drank, and 2 that never arrived). When I asked for them to remove them the manager came over and said they removed the ones we didn't get but they "can't control nature" so didn't remove the first drinks. Well my thing is if they were going to charge us they should have just left us with the cocktails for us to decide if we wanted them or not.
After a quick inquiry into why we were being charged for drinks they tossed, the manager walked off and said "oh my God" rolling his eyes. Came back 2 minutes later and literally slammed the check on our table. No words after that. We paid and left, never ever to return.
I try to be very fair when leaving reviews, but trust the 1 stars about the...
