Restaurant HOIAN BBQ — Restaurant in Lausanne

One of our favorite restaurant in Lausanne since 2017.My family really enjoy their yummy foods,clean and beautiful ambiance.We never had "any issue". Until last week,I celebrated my Birthday with some close friends.I was surprised with the rude and arrogant waiter, low quality service and paying by card is an issue(as since covid we always use card).Here's the scenario: 1). When we arrived,they look so pressure when there was only 3-4 tables occupied.They couldn't find our reservation( did early morning that day),and so we ended finding ourselves a table. 2). The high-light that ruined our night "The arrogant waiter" that assisted us,makes himself believe that our group was kinda ignorant asian-new to their place! He even mentioned the price of the food we'd like to order and make it clear that "this is the price"!!for heaven's sake..never in my life I was asked if I am ok with the price of the food!this is insane!unacceptable behavior! 3). As the place becomes busy after a few minutes the staff are all occupied and so I tried to asked with the waitress and refused my additional order🙄. Still,we stick to plan as we came from different places(Geneva,Nyon,Morges and Vevey). Their menu was great,delicious Vietnamese foods that we really appreciate,no question about the price. Important Note FYI: Sir/Madame, 3 of us worked as restaurant staff too,we knew the stress. We all speak common languages as your waiter,so it's really impossible that misunderstanding cause of language barrier. I could still recommend your place but they/you must be aware that the unacceptable behavior of your staff may displease...

They were very very very slow. Absence of personnel. They didn’t see us entering , they didn’t bother coming to serve us. They were lost at some point and going around taking orders. After 25 mins of waiting they came to us and we ordered , so we ate after 1 hour at least. This is a no go for a restaurant. The servers were very polite but I guess they are not many, so the manager of this restaurant is not managing very well the resources or needs more. We felt the absence of management of the restaurant. Taste : we got 2 dishes, not bad , it reminded of me a typical Chinese place. I mean not something special you don’t find around.

Very pricey for what you get. At a Chinese place you eat with 16 chf and the steam rice costs 1-2 chf. Here a typical chicken dish costs 28 chf and the steam rice 4 chf ! We also got spring rolls and a coke and paid 96 chf !!!! For two average dishes and a soft drink that elsewhere it would have cost me 45chf .

Atmosphere : inside is better than outside. Pity they make so much money and they invest zero to their appearance that reminds me of a 60s facility of basic plastic chairs and tables. The installation does not justify the prices of their menu. When you see I from outside with the cement like it is just now built and not even painted, you expect a very cheap place but what a surprise!

In short: waste of money . if you like Asian food, better order a delivery and enjoy the atmosphere of your place it will cost you less and you...

We went for dinner at the restaurant. My friend made a booking. Unfortunately when we got there there was not set menu but only a buffet dinner. We decided to stay and eat since we were already all hungry. The buffet was disappointing. Most of the food was already eaten and not refilled. We were really getting the leftovers. There was no spoons or forks for all the dishes to dish up. People started mixing to dish between dishes or used their hands. It was chaos and unorganised. We got served water out of broken jug with sharp glass pieces. And when we asked for one that’s not broken, they did not have more to give. The restaurant was super dirty as no one was taking away the dirty plates from the tables. I paid 42CHF to eat one tiny plate of food and some fruit. I ended up with an upset tummy for the full day after....
