9|38 Coffee House — Restaurant in Vernier

Wonderful coffee and ambience but waitresses are on their own schedule so they show up when they decide to and bring drinks when they want to. I did try the first couple of visits to get their attention several times at the end with eye contact and a nod, then raised the hand halfway, put a 20 franc note on the check on the table until finally to their SHOCK and HORROR I put the ball in their court by deciding to GET UP & PAY at the counter. Now I don’t have any problems anymore because that is how I pay. Great, no more waiting an extra 15 to 20 minutes to pay at the end. I don’t mind it anymore now. I noticed that the locals frantically stop them in their tracks at the table upon delivery to pay on the spot before they go off again. Might try that one today… I speak perfect French because I lived there for many...

Après être passé tant de fois à côté de ce caffé sans m'y être arrêté, je saute enfin le pas.

Grosse surprise dès la lecture de la carte. Peu de plats y sont proposés, et tous reprennent des codes culinaire du bagel en y ajoutant un touche peu conventionnel.

Je choisis celui au saumon qui, lui, a la particularité de contenir de la pomme (le fruit) et du concombre. La serveuse propose de le servir froid mais je l'ai pris chaud comme il se fait habituellement. Même si j'étais au début sceptique, je dois vous avouer que le mélange sucré-salé est parfaitement contrôlé et réussi. Nous avons au final un plat exotique sans être écoeurant, pas trop gourmand, parfait pour un petit repas de midi.

J'ai regardé la carte des boissons qui est ,comme trop souvent, trop chère. J'ai donc opté pour un verre...
