Haute cuisine suisse par excellence! Have sampled many multiply Michelin started joints on four continents and this is right up there with the best of its breed. Intimate experience provided with attentive service and a corner seat with maître d’ and colleagues’ just-right approach to a perfectly measured pace, periodic checkins, delightful amuse bouches, and personal engagement with selections from the a la carte menu. The subtle dishes themselves held plenty of surprises from the slice of tongue in the steamed veal entrée to the “choose your own (truffle) adventure” with the tagliolini app. Lobster and “boeuf” hit hard as an ersatz surf and turf. Bonus points for accommodating dessert à emporter straight up to the room (as a hotel guest). Flavors ranged from tradition to innovation with a dash of the east on the crustacean sauce while the dumplings accompanying the veal were surreal. Fine dining not to be missed if in Zug and even worth the short drive down / over from Zurich or Luzerne. Needn’t provide any further inducements but the early spring sunset over Zuggersee for a 6/630 table put this on the edge...
Read moreI had dinner here with my husband and everything was great. The food was delicious, every staff member was very nice and attentive (and spoke English), the plates came at a very nice speed (and looked beautiful), and the ambience was quiet and calm, despite having more people dining. A wonderful experience, which I would like to repeat. I would like to leave a suggestion, though... We chose the surprise menu with 5 courses, which was a good amount of food, and we liked that we did not have to choose every dish individually, so I'm happy with this choice (and everything I ate was delicious!). But one of the courses was "foie gras" which I don't like. I'm not allergic, and I did not remember to say that at the beginning when the waiter asked for allergies. They did replace it with another delicious option later without me even asking, so this was not a problem. But maybe it would be easier for everyone if the waiters mentioned the main ingredients of each course at the beginning of the meal, and this would...
Read moreVery very small food portions. Went home hungry.
The little food that was served, was however excellent. I would give easily 5 stars if the portions were 3x the size. And I am not joking.
The bread they served with truffle butter was the best bread I ever had, albeit also very small corner slices.
Service was pretentious, but bad. Very weird. Had to ask for the menu after they served water and walked away.
I chose the restaurant because of its lake view and ratings here, but be aware they have a room in the back, which does not offer any lake view. This added to the unfortunate experience.
When asking for a drink of their menu, they came back saying they ran out of certain ingredient. For such a high price restaurant seems to me like a big no-go.
I think the high price would be justified if: portions 3x bigger lake view better service and less...
