Like the other "few stars" review, the reasons are the same: The website is "hyping" and raise probably your expectations..but what you will find is a very small museum / small rooms. Staff is kind and it was all clean, but definitely it's more a place for families and kids or teenagers. Excepts 2-3 things, the rest is not really interesting and could be seen on your screen at home or experienced in VR. There was really no "Wooooow!" things, excepts the Room with the projections that was very nice. The official website home page is "tricky" as well. I understand the best-practices of marketing / advertising, but 2 girls, blond and brunette, enjoying the museum, and a "good looking wizard"? This give the feeling is a place where adults could find many attractions to enjoy as well, instead as many other reviews mentioned, is a place to go with kids/family or for teenager interested in such topics. Very warm. But it has been explained a proper reason why Air condition cannot be installed. So avoid to visit when it's too hot! The concept of "leaving the guests discover by themselves" is good, but the web app is not always doing its job. And even if the staff is explaining it to you before entering how to "save" your pictures, when you try to enjoy the museum - your mind follows normally what you do automatically on your computer/smartphone: you see the picture, and below two huge buttons "Image" and "GIF". Clicking on them to pick your choice is the most instinctive thing an User would normally do, but those buttons are not to save your image in one of those formats, but to reset / start again the whole. To save your image (or gif, if selected previously), you need to hold on your picture and then save/share it. I'm sorry but the two big buttons after you see your image should be either smaller or requiring to scroll down, not just below the picture in big fonts/orange.
Overall it's a nice place to visit, the for what you get is really definitely overpriced. There are really no excuses. I live in Zurich so I am no "tourist", everything especially in the city center is expensive, but since the place was "given" from Kt. Zurich, and the concept of a MUSEUM is to share/spread culture and wisdom, the prices should not follow the ruleset "we are in zh city center so the cost is scaled up to it". For what you get, since most things do not require particular maintenance aside cleaning and technical maintenance for the IT Systems - price should really drop of 50% at least.
If the price to enter would have been 12 CHF max, then for the few things an Adult can enjoy is definitely worth the price. Let's say even 15 CHF - but 23 CHF is definitely not a price that can be justified, especially because the museum is anyway often sold out (buy the tickets online or you will need a lot of luck to be able to going spontaneously) - therefore there is no "lack of visitors" and the need of asking such price to keep this place open.
All I said are constructive critics, if you have a family and go with your kids it certainly a great place to go, if you are going alone or with some friends and expecting something "amazing" or like another well-known museum of science in Winterthur, then you may be disappointed, especially for the price asked vs...
Read moreI have visited this new attraction in the city last Sunday. I was surprised with the concept. When I entered the place I was pleased with a bright atmosphere, the design is modern. I like the toys that are displayed which some reminds me of my childhood. Upon entering the inside of the museum, you‘ll be welcome with lights and mirrors. There are several rooms with different illustrations of illusions.
What to expect: get your phone or camera ready as this place are really nice in the photos (I showed few in my instagram stories @swisslifemoments) take advantage to check the QR codes, it will give you information about what is being presented in the room and some recommended photos you can copy for a pose 😉 the place tend to be hot because the building is old and no air condition is in place. But there are plenty of electric fans placed in the area.
Improvements: As COVID threat is still present I would recommend to put sanitation station in each room so people before going in can disinfect the hands.
Overall: The place is unique and fun. The location is center and near to the main station. I hope I can bring my children too very soon as I heard from the owner that they also prepare some fun stuff for the young ones as their brains cannot process the...
Read moreRarely ever write a review, but this was genuinely one of the most boring and anti-climatic experiences of my life. I think I've had more fun during a school exam than in this place. You begin by entering a mirror maze, which me and my friends were excited for, but after you literally turn just 2 corners, the maze is finished. Absolutely tiny maze. All of the "illusions" are incredibly boring, and calling them illusions is quite a stretch. The only one that is remotely interesting is room where if two people stand in opposite corners, one of them looks huge compared to the other. The place genuinely looks like it was made as cheaply as possible, which is funny given the extortionate ticket prices. The illusions are incredibly dull, and it does not take long at all to get through the whole place. I'm not sure if you will have heard about the Glasgow "Willy Wonka Experience" incident (I would recommend googling it if not), but this place honestly gave those vibes. My friends and I were all shocked by the lacklustre experience, and we had half a mind to ask for a refund. I genuinely think they should be paying people to visit because I can not understand how they can charge for...
