A nicely, suited Irish pub in the heart of Zurich, where the beers are as cold as legally possible and the staff are relentless hard workers. Went in an evening to watch a football (soccer to you Yanks) match on a whim, as I had never stopped by to actually sit down and have something solid to eat.
I'll give the ambience a straight 7/7, and the service 7/7, as the English speaking and the ever busy and vibrant vibe kept me feel comfortable despite being a full house. Beers were being guzzled all around, the service team, albeit visibly tired, making sure that each one of their sections was properly looked after. On that note, if the management team could manage to get the front of house service team another computer so that they're not all cramped up, lining up to tip their orders, it might release some congestion (just my suggestion :] )
The food I had that night was a mixed bag. I'm a firm believer of trying everything as is presented to each consumer at a restaurant, especially for burgers, so I had the Chicken Wings and a Pulled Beef Brisket Burger. I have to hand it to Paddy Reilly's, the Chicken Wings were spot on near perfection. It wasn't like typical American styled wings where the sauce is doused in vinegar, but it was something else that felt more homemade, and I appreciated that. Wings were cooked just right, amazing for the time they came out on such a busy night! However, when the Beef Brisket came along, it was a different experience. As a burger, the presentation was pretty great; the beef was stacked neatly under the coleslaw and the bread gently nestled the whole concoction together, with a slew of fries bleeding away from the burger. It looked great, and juicy and looked like something straight out of a picture book. But as I took the first bite, what was an ambitious and succulent idea of a burger turned more into a literal heart ache. The burger as is (with extra cheese, which was forgotten) and bacon was more grease than lustful juicy and tenderness. It was not a bad burger, but it wasn't a great one either. Taking a bite into it didn't feel "satisfying" as more it felt like my stomach wouldn't be able to handle the amount of grease the burger contained. It's still an "okay" burger, but I would imagine any of the other dishes to be better, especially since just the chicken wings alone knocked my expectations out of the park. 4/7 for the food in general.
Considering this is Zurich, prices are to be expected the way they are. For those who are not accustomed to the prices in Zurich, I understand that most would get a culture shock for a beer costing a whopping 9.-FR, but people do have to keep the lights on!
I go in Paddy Reilly's mostly after a hard day's work, because the staff there is easily recognizable and friendly, and no one bothers me at all during my stay. I will definitely come back more and more times, and eat more chicken wings, but probably avoid anything pulled meat-wise.

Read moreI came here for the burgers, stayed for the beer. Honestly, the burgers aren't anything to write home about, only thing that is a plus is the quality of the meat. But the experience of the burger as a whole is just plain at best. The coleslaw made the burger soggy, when burgers (in my opinion) should be moist. However, for the price, and for the quantity you get, it is a very good deal.
The service is also very nice, speaking in English, although with such a big space, it is always difficult to wave them down when it is busy. Kudos to the staff for maintaining their service team as healthy as best they can. I have come here many times because of the beer, since they have a wide selection, and the beer does amplify the taste of the burgers, but a burger should not need the support of the beverage. It should be balanced by it, or be the main attraction
In short, I do like coming here for the beers, but the burgers, especially their sandwiches are nothing sort of out of...
