I was looking forward to eating here after reading all of the glowing reviews but I am sorry to report the experience was pretty disappointing. Maybe it was an off day for the staff, but first they made the wrong dish for me and asked if I would eat chicken instead of the vegetarian dish I ordered. Being a vegetarian for the last 30 years, this was not an option for me and I thought the question if I would eat it quite strange. So, she reluctantly took it back to the kitchen to make what I had originally ordered. Meanwhile, my lunch guest was already served her meal which she didn’t want to eat until I got mine. A good 10-15 minutes passed before mine arrived, it would have been nice, since it was their fault, to remake my guest’s lunch so we would be served at the same time, but this was not offered. After I was served the right dish, the waitress pretty much disappeared without asking if we wanted anything else or even how the lunch was leading us to overstay our welcome past lunch closing time. All she had to do was ask if we wanted coffee to get rid of us earlier but she wasn’t to be seen for a really long time.
If the food had been spectacular, these things wouldn’t have bothered me. Not every good restaurant has perfect service. The lunch, although freshly made with quality ingredients, was really bland and boring. The price point for lunch was really good for the quality, but again, it didn’t taste like much, so at least it wasn’t a big financial loss. I am not an expert at Singaporean food, and I don’t know if they modify their recipes for "Swiss” taste, but what I ordered was pretty neutral, not something I will go out of my way to eat again. We arrived punctually at 19:30, only to be told that the Satay Club (Pouletspiesse) was already sold out. That’s not just surprising, it’s unacceptable for a dinner reservation at standard hours. It suggested either poor planning or a reluctance to prepare sufficient portions for your guests—which feels out of place in a restaurant with your reputation. More troubling was the nearly 90-minute delay before our food arrived, with no explanation and zero communication. Other tables that arrived after us were served and gone before our food even came. During that long wait, no one checked in with us, and no gesture—like an offer of snacks, a small starter, or even a sincere apology—was made to acknowledge the situation. It felt as if our table had been forgotten. My wife spent her birthday evening waiting, hungry and disappointed. What should’ve been a memorable celebration turned into a taxing ordeal. Read moreHEALTH AND SAFETY WARNING! This restaurant has extremely poor food / kitchen safety issues. Dined here today and ordered chicken rice and was eating a mouthful of it when I felt a very hard object in my mouth. Immediately stopped eating and removed the object only to find out it was a broken glass shard.
Upon closer look, I found multiple glass fragments in the food (refer to attached photo). Extremely shocking.
It caused two deep cuts in my mouth with heavy bleeding and had to seek emergency medical treatment and received a tetanus shot and medicine for the wounds.
The female owner and her husband initially claimed not to know how that happened and later said it was due to a kitchen helper breaking a glass container without realising it! How can that happen without your knowledge?! This is beyond shocking and poses serious health risks to customers who dine there.
They did not offer to pay for the medical bill until I told them that I will forward the invoice to them. Neither did they ask for my contact details or offer theirs for follow up until I asked them to provide it. Zero attempts at service recovery.
At the end, the owner even told me “we hope to see you again”!! Their level of ignorance and lack of professionalism is beyond comprehension.
The authorities have been informed about this matter and will proceed to investigate. Until then, I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant. Dine at...
