For the record, I absolutely love the Tschingg concept. The price and convenience is something incredibly difficult to find in Zürich. I have honestly been eating at Tschingg for years, and am currently eating it. However unlike the one up from Bellevue where they are always super nice and welcoming, I absolutely cannot say the same at Stauffacher. I have tried numerous times as it is closer to where I live and work but every last time the service has been extremely unwelcoming and cold, and honestly just plain rude. Every time. No of course I do not want them to be crazy smiley and screaming how are you? But a honest smile and thank you would be much appreciated. On top of the fact that they virtually don't let you even sit in to eat your pasta one hour before closing. Yes, the happened three times to me! Particularly as I myself work in service, I do appreciate a kind smile every now and then. It`s a pity for them and for the warmth of the place. Certainly not at all like the...
Read moreGot tempted for the place before movies because it seemed to have nice decorations, nice pasta options for quick grab of food. Going in desert and juice looked quite nice. However as I picked to have carbonara pasta - all the looks couldn't compansated for the poor food.
It was very bland pastas sauce with barely cooked pasta (whole new level of al dente). Also traces other sauces - either they use the same spoon or don't clean where they warm up. In addition sauce turned out to be too creamy which made my stomach upset (and why is there cream in carbonara?!?!). Definitely not worth the money.
Red wine was meh. Not very welcoming service.
Save your 15-18 bucks for a pasta and go for mc Donald's or greek across the street for at least predictable...
Read moreThis place almost made me cry with how bad the food was! Plus, the Italian radio playing in the store was so noisy, it felt like a night market—there was no restaurant atmosphere at all. On top of that, they charged me a 2.5 franc tableware fee. Seriously? 2.5 francs just to use a bowl once! The noodles were really hard, and the tomato sauce was even more sour than catchup, so much that it made my mouth sore. The main thing is the dining experience, which was...
