Highly Disturbing Experience - Strongly Advise Against Staying Here
I recently stayed at this hotel with my family from the 31st of July to the 1st of August, and I must say it was an utterly distressing experience that I wouldn't wish upon anyone else.
During our stay, we encountered an incident that left us feeling scared and uncomfortable throughout the night. On the night of 31st July, at around 11 PM, our room phone rang briefly, and a short while later, at approximately 1 AM, it rang again, disturbing our sleep and waking up my kids. When my daughter answered the call, the person on the other end introduced themselves as "Yannis" or "Yuanis" (uncertain about the spelling) and asked us to "come down for juice." This seemed suspicious, so my daughter hung up, assuming it was a prank.
Concerned that there might be a prank call, we called the reception to confirm its authenticity. Shockingly, the same person picked up, the call was indeed from thier staff. However, when we picked up the phone again and explained they had the wrong room, they seemed confused and kept asking for our room number. After telling them to stop disturbing us, the phone rang again at around 2 AM. The phone rang a total of 5 times betweem 12am and 2am.
Frustrated and disturbed by this persistent behavior, I answered the call myself. The person claimed there was a knife in the bathroom and asked us to leave it outside the door. I want to emphasize that there was no knife in the bathroom, and this communication left us feeling terrified and uncomfortable.
The next morning, we reported the incident to the reception, and while the staff member on duty apologized on behalf of the person involved, it did not seem like they were willing to take any significant action in response to this distressing situation.
As a result of this horrifying experience, my family and I were unable to sleep properly that night, and our stay at the hotel was tainted with fear and discomfort. I firmly believe that such behavior from a hotel staff member is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated.
I strongly advise against staying at this hotel until they can address the safety and security concerns of their guests. It's crucial for them to take immediate action to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
In light of the disturbing experience and the lack of appropriate action taken by the hotel, I believe it is only fair to warn other potential guests about the risks involved. I sincerely hope that management will investigate this matter thoroughly and implement necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of...
Read moreHotel was the best we found considering price and location for Zurich. Very close to main train station and in 15 min you are in the old town and you can walk pretty much to all sights. Hotel is a bit dated , but bed was comfy, compact but space was well distributed. We stayed on the second floor and the room was super quiet, had nice windows to keep noise away. You get what you pay here, it’s nothing spectacular but Zurich is a very expensive city. This place does the job if you’re planning not to spend a lot of time in your room, as you do on holidays. Not gonna lie, had I read reviews initially , I might not have booked. Yes it’s right next to the prostitution area and red light district but we were 2 girls and never felt unsafe. Main Street lansgstrasse we felt unsafer , although there’s a lot of bars and restaurants in the area . The street of the hotel is fine and anyway the walk to city centre is on the opposite side so you don’t even have to go that area if you don’t want. Supermarket is almost across street from you, if you want to have some food and drinks, to avoid the crazy prices of Zurich. There’s an AMAZING restaurant nearby, la taqueria, if you like Mexican. We really enjoyed our time here, it is in a dodgy area , correct, but we are from London , so it really didn’t bother us much. We recommend , maybe not for families due to location but as couple or group of friends , if you’re on a budget in Zurich, go for it....
Read moreA truly bizarre experience. I was staying in Zurich on business, and wanted something near the main railway station. Booking.com advertised this as ideal. But sorry to say, this is not a business or family, or single traveller hotel... On the plus side - friendly staff, and well maintained (it's clean and functional), and reasonably close to the main station. That's about it. The rooms are tiny, seriously tiny, as are the bathrooms - I'm a large guy, but not that large that i need to get into the shower sideways... Worst tho' - the location... right in the heart of the red light district. Aggressive hookers, open drug dealing, late-night drinking and music (to 2am..) 5 meters from the bedroom window... Now, that's all fine - if the room is airconditioned (which it isn't..), with windows closed (which, in the heat of summer, you can't..) - so no sleep at all.... Rowdy clubs and music, the omnipresent smell of 'weed', lots of shouting and singing.. Zero sleep. Not great for the business or family traveler. And, back to the bathroom, it floods... every day.. shower water just empties onto the bathroom floor. Seems that's expected, the housekeepers just mop it up every day. But after a sleepless night, a good shower.... not even that, in an overly hot, tiny room, smelling of last nights weed from...
