Due to my daily commute, I usually shop at your Sogo location. Today I decided to take a longer route to check out your main Anhe store (supposedly with a bigger selection), I was disappointed with your service. I put your parchment paper on the tray and was pleased to see you even provided throwaway plastic gloves for using the pastry tongs under the dire COVID 19. When I went up to the counter with only one group of two friends behind me in queue, your clerk told me to dump my used plastic glove in the trash can "outside" of the store. I was a bit confused yet I did it quickly anyway. When I returned to pay, all of my 10+ croissants were bagged without asking how I wanted them (I was getting them for friends too because i wanted to recommend them to them). That was fine with me until they told me, "Next time can you throw your glove away later coz there's customers waiting behind you." ..... in other words, you expect me to watch my dirty glove while I pay, take my wallet out and grab my bags? Should I keep it on while I do all these or should I leave it on the counter first and allow it to contaminate the next customer's croissants? Please retrain your clerk's etiquette. Set up a way that makes sense to dump the plastic gloves. Or simply stop providing throwaway...
Read moreThe almond, chocolate croissant is absolutely delicious: a buttery, flaky pastry oozing with almond paste and chocolate. The cinnamon bun was not what I expected. Maybe it’s French style which is not the same as American ones? I felt it was a croissant with some cinnamon inside ( too dry), topped with caramel sauce ( not enough). I like my cinnamon bun to be more bready and gooey. A bit expensive for the size ( but I guess this is the going rate for western baked goods in Taipie). The small apple tart is also excellent. The pastry is perfect. The filling is not too sweet which I like but I would like a bit more texture instead of a sauce. It is really a shame the front of the shop is not cared for. The plants are dying and there are weeds growing. Such a lovely big area in front of the shop gone to waste. Also, the shop can use a better ventilation system. When it first opened I walked in and immediately walked out without buying anything because I couldn’t stand the smell. Normally I love the smell of a bakery but this place has some sort of oil smell that I don’t like. I finally returned to the store recently at the recommendation of...
Read moreLovely bakery in the middle of taipei city. If you crave for authentic French pastry, this is a must try! I loved the croissant and mille feuille cake! It’s not cheap for taipei price level but it is definitely worth every penny. I would only have one suggestion to the store owner: hire more friendly cashiers. It may be because the store is already popular, the cashier ladies don’t think that they have to be nice to the customers. They should smile more and be more friendly. Also, I asked for a fork for the cake I bought and the cashier gave a look like she didn’t understand. I could not eat the pastry with my hand, please!
Updated 7/21/2023 I visited the bakery recently and the service of cashier was good. I even got a fork (one per cake only) to enjoy the mille feuille cake which was out of the world delicious as always! I don’t know about the breads because I didn’t really taste the buttery and flakinesses like how I tasted French croissants in New York or Paris. I will give it a try again when I...
