Is this the best luroufan in taiwan? It's hard to say cause there were quite a few I tried and liked it, but I have to say its probably one of the best I have eaten. Wanted to visit this place the moment it opened for business. Was there 20 minutes early before opening and was shocked there was already a queue all the way along the narrow alley. I thought I could walk around first but I just had to queue else would have to wait a long time to get served. Shop opened at the dot and the customers were shown into the shop quite promptly. Do not sharing of tables might be required if you visit in a small group of 2 or less. Took a while deciding on the dishes to order and had to order online first then head back to the entrance where the cashier was to pay for the bill before the order could be processed. Didn't take very long for the food to be served, quite an efficient bunch of staff. So we had the luroufan which is the small chunks of braised pork and also another bowl which had slices of pork from the trotters. Had both, both were enjoyable but the luroufan really stood out for me. One of the best, could easily have tempted me to order a few more bowls. If you are a fan of fats then I would recommend the trotter rice more. The luroufan just melts in your mouth and has a slightly thicker and sweeter sauce which appeals to me. Then we had the braised cabbage which we thought was okay, the braised beancurd not very consistent, some pieces harder than the others. The pork ribs soup was decent I thought was light and nice but my friend thought it was too light and bland. The ribs were also well cooked it melted in the mouth. One of the best in taiwan and definitely have to give it a try to judge for yourself. A definite top 3 for me. Be early or you...

One of the perks of staying at Holiday Inn Express Taipei Train Station was being just a few minutes’ walk from Da Dao Cheng Lu Rou Fan 大稻埕卤肉饭. Famous with locals and visitors alike, it’s a must for authentic Taiwanese comfort food.
We arrived around 11am and were shocked to see a queue already forming. Luckily, a waitress asked if we minded sharing a table — once we said no, we were seated right away 🙌.
Here’s what we ordered: • Lu Rou Fan + Soft-Boiled Egg 滷肉飯 + 半熟荷包蛋 – tender pork sauce over rice, made even better with the runny yolk 🍳 • Q Zhu Jiao Ding Q豬腳丁 – braised pork knuckle cubes with that classic Taiwanese “Q” (springy) texture, savoury and satisfying • Huang Jin Pao Cai 黃金泡菜 (Golden Pickled Cabbage) – the surprise highlight 💛. Unlike regular pickled cabbage, this version is mixed with salted egg yolk 鹹蛋黃, giving it a golden colour, creamy texture, and umami depth. Crunchy, tangy, and rich enough to balance the pork dishes.
The lu rou fan here is my favourite version so far, but the huang jin pao cai stole the show — totally unexpected, and absolutely addictive.

Read moreVisiting this place I brought my wife and baby, since we traveling with a baby my wife first normal instinct is to find a seat and park the pram. My wife was told to line up with the rest of us as the table she was at might not be the one allocated to us. Then my baby spilled some of her drink which my wife quickly cleaned up with wet towels and left it on the table where they were already clearing to be told that she must throw it away herself. When they gave us a table it was at the first table at the entrance we have a double pram which was only going to cause issues for people walking in and out, so my wife suggested why not give us one at the very end which was also available so we won’t block up the place with the pram, this unmannered young lady was so rude said no, actually more like hell no and walked off. Food was ok tastes like any other 滷肉飯 specialty they add a soft fried egg on top that’s it. If your hungry go grab a bowl since the whole internet is raving about this place but for service, you get better service from a petrol station attendant. This often happens with restaurants in Taiwan when they become famous their attitudes and manners go...
