FaChuKung Temple — Attraction in Datong District

This is the only temple equipped with elevator in Taiwan. The main god here is called Fa Jhu Gong, who is typical Taoism God. The legend says he once killed an evil snake for a village and then the folks started to worship him as a god. He’s known for his mighty power against the evil spirits. This temple is also famous for its Red Tortoise Cake: a small round or oval shaped Chinese pastry with soft sticky rice flour skin wrapped around a sweet filling in the centre. Legend says once Fa Jhu Gong was fighting to this super evil sprits. After several fights he was so weak and tired. Then there was old lady gave him this red tortoise cake and told him to eat it. 很神奇的廟，面對大馬路ㄧ側是ㄧ大片牆壁，代表以前另一側才是主要通道。

不知為何，把一樓清空，要到二樓才可以開始參拜。

M樓應該是二樓「清殿」，主祀文昌帝君； 三樓「太歲殿」主祀所有太歲星君，可以看到手長在眼睛上的神像，和各種武器； 四樓「玉皇殿」，名符其實是給玉皇上帝，把天帝放在最高處，眺望台北的天空，很合理。

要注意的是，電梯按鈕不靈敏，常常按了沒反應，要按大力一點，多按幾下，或是乾脆走樓梯。

傳說1878年，大稻埕得勝街的振南茶行發生瘟疫，許多人被傳染，街坊恭請法主公的香火禳災，才得消除。

茶商便專程到廈門，雕塑了一座金身法主公神像回來奉祀。最初是茶商們供奉的家鄉守護神，後來演變成大稻埕的地方信仰

原先規模比較大，但日據時期的「市區改正」拓寬南京西路和中華民國時期再拓寬後，後殿全被拆除，僅留現存之面積。

由於廟位於道路用地上，在改建時將其架高，形成目前奇特的景觀。

法主公廟面南，與臺北北門相對，不過現在被建築物遮蔽，看不到了。

法主公介紹：

法主真君張慈觀，民間多稱為法主公，北宋人，福建永泰縣道士，南宋得聖，被視為伏妖降魔的神，尤其以驅除永春蛇妖最出名，所以神像一手持劍一手抓蛇。

法主公信仰流行於福建福州、泉州、漳州，以及廣東潮州、梅縣等地區，是閩客均奉祀的神。

臺灣閩籍最出名的廟即是臺北法主公廟，客家地區以美濃最鼎盛。

大稻埕法主公廟還有乞龜🐢的習俗：

於農曆九月廿三日，法主公聖誕日隔天，廟方會在法主公前供奉紅龜粿和糯米粿，這個儀式稱為「大龜會」。

信徒可以祈求後擲筊，如果筊杯指示應該可以領回食用，就可以拿走這些紅龜粿和糯米粿。

但是隔年要以雙倍還願，這個還願儀式叫做「乞龜」或「求紅龜」。

當信徒還完乞龜後，以後就可以自己買紅龜來到廟裡拜法主公，再帶回家享...
