I'm not one to write reviews unless I feel the place deserves a shout out be it good or bad. Taipei has great food but sometimes the reviews can get too bogged down with small personal critics ie: the wait was long, service was slow and the waiter look at me the wrong way etc blah blah blah. We came across the Great Huda accidentally after visiting the night market. It was so nice we came back on the third night after trying a few other restaurant. On our second visit the waiter (a different one) offered us an extra complimentary dish and after our meal he gave us a shot of Taiwanese wine as a welcome to Taiwan. Taiwanese people are so honest and inviting. As for the meal it was amazing. The King Oyster Mushroom is to die for. Fried rice was nice. Seafood is amazing. Honestly I think any of the dishes on the menu is great. 3 dishes and water is about AUD$25. Do yourself a favour and give this place a try. I think you will truly enjoy it. Head for MRT station Shuanglian, take the exit No 1. You should see Macdonalds across the road. Turn left and it's about 2 to 5...
Read moreWe came one night, and the restaurant was fully packed. We made a reservation for 8pm the second night, however, when we arrived, there were no available tables. We asked the staff when a table would be available, and were only told that we would be notified when there was a table available, with no estimate time. Customers inside seemed to be just starting their meal, with no indication of finishing any time soon, and staff seemed completely unapologetic and uncaring for our business. After waiting a while, we decided to leave, as we were unsure how long the wait would be.
Those interested in eating at this restaurant should be aware that they do so at the risk of an indefinite wait time, even with a reservation. Perhaps the food is worth the wait, but I personally think that there are plenty of delicious restaurants available in Taipei with much better service.
TLDR: reservations are useless,...
