Modern Mode Cafe has a retro-inspired decor, but the actual layout, seating arrangement, and clutter fall short of what’s shown on Instagram. The vintage decorations are abundant, but instead of adding charm, they make the space feel messy and unorganized. Service was average—our tiramisu order was forgotten and only brought after a reminder. The tiramisu itself was decent, not overly sweet or altered in the "Taiwan-style" way, and I'd give it a 7/10, though the portion was quite small. The coffee was mild and lacked depth, earning about a 6/10. One strong positive was the air conditioning—cool and refreshing, which is a huge plus during Taipei’s hot summer.

However, the atmosphere quickly declined when a group of people—seemingly friends of the staff—entered and started chatting loudly. It disrupted the experience and made us question whether this place values a quiet, relaxing coffee shop environment. If you're looking for a peaceful spot to enjoy coffee or work, this might not be ideal. Super duper rich chocolate drink and no sweet!! I could say this is the real chocolate drink I have tried in Taipei after living here 2 years. This cup is chocolate with hazelnut cream. The first time I tried I feel I haven't taste and smell of the hazelnut but still impressive of the flavour and quality. But recently I go back and the taste are vibrant under the chocolate taste. It's so damn good during the winter time. Tiramisu is top notch for me so far. Every time I'm craving tiramisu, I always want to come here. All layer have been properly soaked and creamy. Came here last November and ordered a tea and a set of MM公雞太太. Tea came quickly but the main meal only came after one hour of waiting. Enquired on the long waiting time when I was the only customer in sight and the server explained that the bread needs to be toasted. Tea was nice but main dish that ultimately came was disappointing. Lukewarm toast with a ham and cheese, garnished with lettuce and a little bit of nuts. Nothing special/spectular in my opinion. Marmalade and yogurt were fine.
