RT Baker House Fuhou Store — Restaurant in Hsinchu

Walked by this place as my wife and I were taking a gander of the moat nearby one evening in January 2021. I'm a fan of baked goods so in we went. Even though we didn't have any plans to buy bread, we still bought three different kinds just to see if this place is worth its salt, or in this case 'sugar'.

Having tried all three, I'd rate this place three stars. I like that the breads with sugary fillings were not overly sweet.

The bread with cream and burdock filling is a combination that I had not seen previously. Novelty is fine as long as the end product still tickles my fancy. In this case, the bread was interesting but didn't really check all the boxes necessary to make it stand out.

What kept me from rating this place higher was the less than stellar mouth feel. I prefer breads that feel dense and elastic yet moist. The breads I bought here felt somewhat dry and loose.

My wife and I went there around 7pm so perhaps the breads had already gone stale. As I could only relate my own experience, I cannot speculate if the breads sold here could be better fresh out of the oven.

Haven’t passed by this region for years, go back to this bakery we were visiting often. A good bakery and this time I am impressed by how they deal with the regulations. The clerk will ask you whether you want a carry bag, meaning the plastic one, if you don’t want then they will refund you 1 NTD, and if you order many items they will offer you a free paper bag. Went there to get a cake for my son,ask a couple of question as my son has allergy, the sales staff was seriously impatient and it was like two question and there was like 3 other customers, not busy at all, perhaps it was close to closing hour........ no idea how the cake taste but the experience left a bad taste...
