This was my second visit to this restaurant, but unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. There were three of us this time, and I was quite surprised that the staff didn’t even ask what soup base we preferred for our hot pot. Instead, they simply communicated among themselves and placed two plates of beef and the original soup base on our table—without any consultation.
At first, I assumed this was the required minimum order for three people. However, as the meal went on, I noticed that there were other options, including Mala soup base. When we checked out, I asked the cashier about the minimum order, and she informed me that it was just the soup base and one plate of beef. I then mentioned that the staff never gave us the chance to choose our soup base and didn’t even ask before serving us two plates of beef.
That said, while the service was disappointing, the food itself was quite good. The beef was tender and flavorful, though I found the beef belly to be less enjoyable. Our two stir-fry dishes—Sour Wombok Beef and Beef Tendon—were delicious, and the portions of Tonghao and cabbage were generous. The soup base had a good variety of vegetables and bean curd products, making for a well-balanced hot pot experience.
If the staff had greeted us properly, given us the opportunity to choose our preferred soup base, and clearly explained that one plate of beef was the required minimum order, I would have appreciated the service much more. While the food quality is commendable, I hope the restaurant improves its customer service to enhance the overall...
Read moreTL;DR: The WORST hotpot experience of our lives. Please avoid - do not be misled by the Michelin Bib Gourmand.
Words can’t fully express how terrible this place was. It’s honestly an insult to other Bib Gourmand establishments that this restaurant is even on the list. If I could give it zero stars, I would.
Service was absolutely disastrous. They got our soup base wrong not once, but twice - and stood there looking confused when we pointed it out. Meanwhile, our raw ingredients were already served, so we had to just sit and wait with uncooked food on the table. As others have mentioned, there were plenty of staff around, but only one waiter was actually working. The rest were just standing around, completely disengaged.
Food-wise, the soup was bland and forgettable - something you could easily make at home with a basic stock cube. Certainly nothing deserving of a Michelin Bib nod. The portion of meat was surprisingly small for the NT$400 price tag (see photos), and while the ingredients like beef and seafood were fresh, there was something noticeably off about the beef after cooking - it lacked flavor and just didn’t taste right.
Utensils and tableware made no sense either. We were eating hotpot, but the soup bowls they provided were tiny. When we asked the waitress why, she just shrugged and said she didn’t know.
And to top it all off - when we went to pay, they hadn’t even keyed in our order. We had to verbally list everything we ate just so they could calculate the bill. Absolutely chaotic and unprofessional.
This place truly tarnishes the Michelin Bib Gourmand label. If this is what qualifies, it really calls the entire list into question.
