Madker Live House & Restaurant — Restaurant in Kaohsiung

Neither this, nor that. Billed as a restaurant, bar and jazz venue, Madker doesn't do well at any of them. Nor is the combination of all three good enough to make for an enjoyable night. At these prices, I was expecting a little bit better in the food department. Any self-respecting mushroom pasta should at least taste like mushrooms, not just contain mushrooms. Service, it would have been nice to have been asked whether I wanted a drink. But I guess in the end that too would have tasted of bitter disappointment. And finally the music. Unfortunately, it didn't save the day, and was about as entertaining...

Stopped there between cinema showings to have a snack and one drink, at first seemed very chill. We were not informed upon entry that there is an entry fee per person, and were very shocked to see our bill was so high! For two beers and a small serving of chicken to share, we paid over 1000. Enjoyed live music in this pretty, well located space tonight. The grilled squid with garlic pasta was very nice. Probably a local fav. I thought the scallion pancake was too salty. Menu indicated Chilean Red wine. I enjoyed this wine at Lolas in Tainan this week I was excited about ordering a few glasses tonight..Unfortunatley Madker was sold out. Highly...
