This diner used to be a place I frequented. Kaohsiung doesn't have many diners, certainly nothing that compares to Taipei's The Diner, but this used to be an ok substitute for me once K-Town Diner shutdown. I put up with their runny egg whites and overcooked hashbrowns for quite some time, never leaving a bad review. What killed this restaurant for me, though, is the service has reached an all time low, and, they almost doubled their prices suddenly. We flagged down the staff eight times, they continued to ignore us, even though we are repeat customers. My hungry four year old couldn't take it anymore, we had to leave with hungry stomachs. They just lost another long time customer today, and I predict they will be out of business by next year.
[Edit Sept 03 2024] The Michino Diner has suddenly responded to this comment, 7 years later. My daughter is now 11 years old. To be clear, Michino used to have multiple locations. The location I was referring to when I left this review went out of business years ago, perhaps they were under different management. I have revised my rating from one star to a more neutral three stars as I have not tried the...
Read moreI wandered across this place and I’m so glad I did! What a gem. We had an amazing brunch here—the breakfast burrito is AMAZING (love the homemade salsa). We also had smoked salmon eggs benedict (delicious but unfortunately not made with authentic hollandaise sauce, but that seems impossible to find!) and fresh fruit pancakes, which were perfect. We’ve been on the hunt for authentic maple syrup and found that here! They were very generous about giving us more, too. The drinks were great, too—we got the chocolate banana milkshake and a strawberry milk with perfect strawberry Nesquik vibes. Definitely hits the spot if you’re looking for a classic...
Read moreWe got there on a holiday evening. It was a little busy but nothing crazy. Ordered chicken and pancakes. More than an hour later, waitress informs us that the chicken will take "3 more minutes". TEN minutes after that, they still haven't brought the food. We left as we were now wasting our night and our daughter needed to go to bed.
Drinks were fine and the people seemed nice enough.
I worked in the service industry for years. I understand that sometimes things go wrong or take longer than expected. But you should TELL your customers what is going on, not keep silent until minutes before the food is ready (and messing up the timing on that one...
