Read about this place that was recommended for cold sweet dessert. A bit of walk from Tamsui MRT station. It’s not too bad as there are many other things to see along the way. Found the shop and couldn’t find the entrance. First thought was “is this a take away place”? And I circled around the building, yes, found the entrance but there was no seat so the polite sever directed me to go around the building and take a seat (waiting Q) at the front of the pick up window that was facing the road. (Puzzle: why did they place the Q in a big loop, in front instead of nearer to the entrance)? The wait isn’t long, managed to get a seat in around 10min. Nice to sit indoor with aircon and good view facing the sea. Rice tea is served and Order via QR, menu has multiple languages. crepe is delicious and I ordered the wrong drink. Wanted a mango vinegar but ordered the grapes, red fruit syrupy and grapefruit pulp drink instead (a little too sweet and artificial taste to me 😅) Take note that every patron can only...

Asahi HuuHu Kakigori is a small, charming ice dessert shop offering refreshing treats, such as shaved ice in various fruit flavors. We had their signature Papaya Milk Kakigori - a small ice mountain crowned with chewy Shiratama Dango at the bottom – a dessert finale that hits all the right notes! I love how this dessert was rich yet not overly sweet, super well-flavored!
But it's not just about the shaved ice; Asahi HuuHu Kakigori takes the experience to the next level! Nestled in Tamsui, New Taipei City, the shop boasts a prime spot right by the Tamsui river bank. Imagine indulging in your frosty delight with a spectacular view of the tranquil river – a visual feast to accompany your icy treat!
Just a heads-up: the shop is a hot spot, and seating is limited, so be prepared for a short wait.
Asahi HuuHu Kakigori isn't just a dessert stop; it's a sub-tropical escape with a view that makes the wait...
Read moreNice little desert shop with a great view facing the bay in the Tamsui waterfront (not the Fisherman’s wharf side), good location for you to chill for awhile and there is air conditioning to counter the weather for your break. Limited seating area 10 pax indoo and 6-8 pax outdoors, they limit seating to 45 minutes.
Deserts are nothing to rave about, shaved ice in various styles and crepes with various choices of fillings, some iced sodas and hot beverages follow. I ordered the plain crepe with butter and it smells great though it was a little soggy in the middle. The shaved ice item I have was orange and pineapple flavoured and the pineapple and oranges on the item were both ridiculously sour. You would think if you charged a premium for such a desert you would try to QC your fruits a little more.
They do provide free cold tea after you order and they require each individual to...
