One of the signature dishes to try when coming to Tansui is Agei, the creativity of cuisine is here. Go to the shop and order a 95NT combo including 1 Agei, 1 fish ball soup, and 1 pork meat dumpling. Agei is a palm-sized tofu cake with a chewy fried shell inside a soft, chewy vermicelli belly that is seasoned with a special sauce, which may vary by the store's recipe. With Wenhua, the sauce seems a bit strong for those who eat it lightly. Dumplings with soft and chewy shells filled with meat are not too special, and fish soup with broth in the bar with chewy white fish balls. Dont judge a book by its cover. This shop is very very rustic looking but they serve some great ah gei.

I've never had "ah gei" before but was told it was famous here in Tamsui. It's basically vermicelli wrapped inside a tofu skin.

I stopped by this unassuming store unbeknownst that a famous singer ate here before.

The ah gei was decent in size and packed with vermicelli noodles. The tofu skin was thin as well. The spicy sauce was recommemded by the sales lady and I'm glad i listened. It added the perfect balance in flavor.

Service was very friendly. I had no idea what ah gei was but she was patient enough to explain and even show me what it looked like. There's also plenty of seating available, too

There were 2 queue, one for take away (outside) and 1 for having it there (inside). The menu is in Chinese so I ordered the set menu. Comes with a bun, fish ball soup, and the tofu with beehoon inside. Nice local experience especially as it’s quite close to the Tada Eikichi’s residence.

Food tastes fine, nice local experience. The uncle inside the eating space gave me a chopstick (supposedly it’s self service, but I didn’t see the chopstick area and decided to eat the beehoon with the given spoon for fish ball soup). Unfortunately the meat in my bun fell off because I was trying to eat it without the bun LOL. But overall quite filling, ok...
