As we embarked on our journey to the quaint old gold mining town of Jiufen in Taiwan, little did we know that we were about to embark on a culinary adventure that would tantalize our taste buds and leave us craving for more. Nestled amidst the narrow streets and bustling markets of Jiufen, the Jiufen Jie Jiao Traditional Diner stood out like a beacon of gastronomic delight.

Upon reaching the diner, we were greeted with a panoramic view over the bay that was nothing short of spectacular. The sight was so mesmerizing that it felt as if we were dining amidst the clouds, or rather dancing over the rooftops so high you’ll be prompted to sing chim-chimney chim-chariot. The vast expanse of water stretching out before us in all its glory was curtained by precipitous mountains at its horizon. The dizzying heights only added to the charm of this hidden gem, making it a truly unforgettable dining experience.

As we rounded the turn down into the cave-like entrance we were delighted to discover a beer selection that could rival even the most upscale bars in Tainan. From local brews to international favorites, the variety was impressive, catering to every palate and preference, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal as we settled into our rustic lacquered bench.

The service at Jiufen Jie Jiao Traditional Diner was nothing short of exemplary. The staff were attentive, prompt, and always wore a warm smile that made us feel right at home. From recommendations on what to try from their extensive menu to ensuring our glasses were never empty, every detail was taken care of with utmost professionalism and courtesy.

After navigating the countless stairs and winding alleys of Jiufen, stumbling upon Jiufen Jie Jiao Traditional Diner felt like stumbling upon an oasis in the desert. It provided a much-needed respite for our weary knees and aching muscles, offering not just delicious food but also a welcoming ambiance that rejuvenated our spirits.

Jiufen Jie Jiao Traditional Diner is more than just a place to eat – it’s an experience that combines culinary expertise with breathtaking views, excellent service, and a sense of comfort that lingers long after you’ve left. A must-stop destination for anyone visiting Jiufen, this hidden gem is sure to leave you...

Unfortunately, this place felt more like a tourist trap than a quality dining spot. The portions were quite small for the price, and the overall flavor left much to be desired. I ordered the braised pork rice, duck, and soup dumplings. The dumplings seemed to be previously frozen rather than freshly made, and the pork to rice ratio in the braised pork rice was surprisingly low. The duck also lacked seasoning and tasted rather bland.

Customer service was lacking, the person at the register was more focused on their phone playing games than assisting customers, which was frustrating. If you’re looking for a more satisfying and authentic meal, I’d recommend walking outside the market to find a proper sit down restaurant. Overall, not great value...

We found this place through a food blog and it didn’t disappoint. We came at lunch and it was packed so we had to wait about 5-10 for a table but once we got in there the service was quick and food was delicious that I can understand why so many people were there! The xiao long bao were wonderfully warm and when you bite them the beautiful soup and meat mixture was like a little explosion of flavor in your mouth. The braised pork and rice was great. The pork had plenty of flavor and was really tender. This is an English speaking tourist friendly place with English translation on the menu and pictures on the wall. Also the guy on the counter could speak some English so that was nice. Highly recommend for my...
