石川制研（無訂位服務，請現場候位） — Restaurant in New Taipei

This is THE place to eat, if you can get in! Slightly off the beaten track, this restaurant serves up the most innovative and well cooked food you can find in all of jiufen, and possibly all of the entire district! Upon entering, you are greeted by the magnificent Lele, a friendly happy dog that just wants a bit of a cuddle. The lovely lady who also greeted us took the time to explain that there would be a wait and asked if we were okay. The wait wasn’t actually long at all but we were very grateful that she warned us that there was a wait. Let me tell you the wait was worth every single second. The food - every single plate is just fabulously done. We loved the pasta with shrimp, the salted pork, the ishikawa chicken rice, and the truffle pancake which was just out of this world. We were in Jiufen for 3 nights and had dinner at several places, including 芋仔番薯 and 古窗. Amongst the 3, 石川制研 served the best food! What it lacks in terms of view, it compensates with its fine food preparation and fine palette. Especially the salad that forms part of the set meal, a mix of fruits with mango sauce, was simply heavenly! Although it is away from Jiufen Old Street, it is really not difficult to access (from Shenping theatre, walk straight onwards Qingbian rd until u see a pottery store, walk down the stairs and u will see the restaurant...

Stumbled upon this place on Google while searching for dinner, apparently you have to book for a reservation before coming but we just tried a hit or miss, thankfully ladyboss has empty seats! Altho not much variety of dishes left on the menu. Very cute quaint little "zhuchar" 煮炒热炒 shop with a cute doggo named Lele. We had their chicken salad and chicken rice.
