Mount Keelung Trail — Attraction in New Taipei

Hiked up here for the sunset. It took about 35min from the foot of the stairs and the temperature was perfect in the morning around 5.30 with a light jacket on. There were no people on top when we got there and only once the sun had already risen did three more people show up. It's a light walk up the stairs and if you turn around every once in a while, you'll get a nice view of Jiufen. On top, you get a great 360 degrees view on the surrounding villages, peaks and Keelung. While the sunrise itself wasn't particularly more beautiful than in other places, it was more than worth getting up early to see a veil of gold slowly...

Overlooking much of the Keelung sights such as Heping Dao, the Keelung Islet, Shen’ao Elevant Trunk Rock and more is Mt. Keelung and its path to the peak. A moderate hike, the mountain trail is well paved with large slab stones and stairs.. Climbing Mt. Keelung you will be met with 360 views of northern Taiwain’s seaside and its mountainous terrain. Capture the breathtaking views of the Keelung landscape.

Continuing onward from Jiufen Old Street along the highway for a short distance will bring you to the trailhead. The hike takes about 1.5 hours round trip, but take your time at the peak to enjoy the fresh air...

This is the start of the hike if you wish to go. Bring plenty of water and a towel and snacks. Its just steps to the top so not difficult. Theres some rest stops. At the time of this review, july 2019 there was construction on some rest areas and at the top which inhibited some views.

Guides said it takes an hour to go up, but I did it in 30. Also good idea to do it not in the heat of the day. Shade is limited.
