GB Brewery Restaurant – Taichung Store — Restaurant in Taichung

Beautiful brewery, unfortunately it is all a smoke screen and was quite disappointed. All but on one beer were middle of the pack nothing to write home about, the only exception the Schwarzbier, a black lagers made my day, more details on my beer reviews. Food was mediocre at best the burger was completely off, for a blue cheese it didn't really taste like anything, couldn't as well been an unseadoned green salad. Freedom fries were crispy, good lacked seasoning but okay overall.

Now the service was a different beast, not sure if just a matter of efficiency or they really wanted me out of there fast, but it was rude. I had not even taken my last bite when my plate was removed and check doped on the table, a few questions followed but couldn't even answer, mouth was still full with the last piece. Anyway long story short, definitely an experience I don't care repeating for this reason I Do NOT recommend...

Note; This is no longer a Gordon Biersch branded brew pub, not sure why though. Beer is ok, most number of servers I have ever seen in my life in a Taichung restaurant, yet the service was disappointing as one of my fellow diners meal came 30 minutes after everyone else was served (we were told the server forgot it ?). Food is barely passable big box fare on par with Texas Road house that will disappoint any westerner, but seems to be just fine for any local, probably because they have no frame of reference of what actual good western food should be. Also value for money is very poor because they are in a very expensive location. In the end there are many other options now in Taichung for great beer and much better food at much better prices (Taihu for instance). Go to those other places, you will be...

Gordon Biersch restaurant is on the 13th floor of Mitsukoshi, next to the cinema. GB is a high-class pub-style steak and burger restaurant that serves delicious Western food options... Fabulous salads. Huge Burgers. A large selection of appetizers. Amazing pasta dishes. Lots of drink options--sodas, mixed drinks and microbrews. Everything is top notch here. Large portion sizes--even the kids meal burger is big. The bill will probably be large as well, but you definitely get what you pay for here. A delicious meal in a classy, yet comfortable, restaurant you'll want to come back to again and again. Ps- I recommend the Gorgonzola Chicken...
