Umai Zhonggang Branch — Restaurant in Taichung

I arrived in Taichung, Taiwan on 20/5/04/29 for an 11-day trip. I searched for a BBQ restaurant on Google Maps and chose it for our dinner today, which is 30/04/2025. The service staff were very polite during the first contact. They asked me for some information and asked where we were visiting from. Then I answered them that we were from the UK, and then they began to introduce us to the menu of their restaurant in great detail. We ordered a Japan A5 beef set meal for 2 people, and then the waiter explained to me what the set meal included. Only then did I know that the portion of this set meal was very large, but the Japan A5 beef in the set meal was very rich in butter fragrance and melted in the mouth. It took a long time to finally finish it. It turned out that there were two desserts, which were my wife’s favorite milk ice cream. She was very happy and satisfied today. Finally, they gave me a little surprise for these two visitors. You can understand by looking at the picture! Definitely a restaurant worth...

Recommended by many. Be sure to reserve, walk-in not advisable. (Restaurant has Tinted glass, don't miss it!) Went on weekday lunch, ushered to level 3. 2 main person serving the level with excellent service level. Was introduced to the menu in detail with one of them squatting down while explaining. He also offered to customised chilli for us which tasted👍🏼. 2 of us ordered 2 person set Aust Wagyu set and upgraded the rice to seafood porridge and never regretted (comes with salad, pumpkin mash 😋 chosen by us and a drink + dessert each). The marbling on beef was so appetising when served 😋. You will be gently reminded if meat is outside too long and will 生水/become less fresh and if meat is to be taken to plate from grill before it toughen up. Add point: ladies on level 2 and gents on 3. Toilet seat plastic cover can be changed by turning knob and there is mini fridge with spray to cover smell after leaving and a mouth rinse 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 You pay for good quality service...

Yummy yakiniku place with decent service. This place is super popular, so do make reservations or come when they open so that they still have spaces for walk in guests. I didn't like the idea of having restricted meal time of 2 hours only, but going by the crowd we saw when we left, it was pretty much the only way to ensure that people get their seats. We tried the wagyu set which was pretty good, just a tad pricey for the quality and quantity. It came with several cuts of wagyu, iberico, scallop and prawns. The service staff will helpfully peel the prawns for you, which I found kinda amazing, seeing how she peeled off the shell with two tongs. One of the wagyu cut was melt in the mouth and when it's combined with the smokiness of the grill, it's heaven. The service staff changes the grill on a regular basis and checks in with us ever do often to ensure that everything is OK for us. The meal comes with a drink and 2 desserts and set us back for...
