it was rather a disappointing experience for me compared to my good experiences in other Tainan local food stores. First, the latte I ordered was very weak. It doesn’t deserve to be priced TWD 190. I was even more disappointed to read the owner’s defensive response to other reviewers’ comments. I understand that the interior decoration is lovely and nostalgic, but as a coffee shop, the quality of your coffee is the essence, otherwise you are only selling the Instagrammable experience. I don’t understand why the owner keeps highlighting the coffee price in Europe? Why not to compare your coffee quality with Europe’s or compare Tainan’s average food price with Europe’s? Is it really hard to acknowledge your deficiency or to improve the drink quality? Second, the service is not satisfying either. The waitress told me to read the menu and order at the counter. I did, but when I was handing my order of drinks to her at the counter, she barely looked at me or talked to me but busy with counting her coins and I had to hold the menu in the air for two minutes like a fool. BTW, I was the only customer at that time. I just don’t understand. I ran out of the coffee shop as soon as I...
Read moreSuper atmospheric literary cafe in a rescued historic building overlooking the Confucius Temple. Romantic! Obviously a labor of love for the proprietress, who deserves huge kudos for saving and converting a piece of Tainan's history. But...well...with half a dozen customers standing around waiting, it opened 1/2 hour late in the morning; latte was bitter and unappealing, despite its retro-trendy Japanese preparation. It has a real time capsule vibe (wonderful!) but the place looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the Japanese era (not so wonderful), and don't even get me started on the open air restrooms. You can't help but think, "If they'd just close this place for a week and clean, refurbish, and repaint, it'd be the coolest cafe in the country." In short, go for the history and ambience, but don't expect impressive coffee or a clean...
Read morePay a premium for the atmosphere, slow service and average food. The. When you express your displeasure instead of a simple ‘I’m Sorry’ you get an excuse.
It seriously took 35 min to get a latte that was more like a cappuccino than a latte.
Not sure how you can limit people’s time to 20 minutes during busy times if it takes so long to get drinks.
Why not look at the other reviews and consider making some changes to reflect what your customers are looking for, instead of arguing why you’re right.

As I stated in my review above, instead of making excuses for poor service, simply apologize. That is standard in customer service.
By the way. I finished my substandard drink because I waited so long for the $190 drink and...
