Hard to rate as there were both very positive and negative elements. The service was great, but only because the owner was present and very friendly with all the guests. He even threw in small items for free. The naan was acceptable, curry flavor was good. But in a place where the local palate cannot tolerate even slightly spicy, not making masala without the (unnecessary) addition of chili peppers is not doing right by your customers. Most Indian places here will offer various curries with little to no spiciness. Two people in our party couldn’t eat said curry. My biggest beef and the reason for the poor rating is that they were out of basmati rice. Given the availability and long shelf life of rice, this just isn’t acceptable. Offering Taiwanese steamed rice with Indian food is just bad taste. Worse yet, all of the paneer dishes were X’d out on the menu. I can’t say if this is a long-term or permanent thing, or just the day we were there, but this just adds to the disappointment. (Is there a sudden shortage of milk causing the lack of paneer?) What kind of Indian restaurant doesn’t offer real Indian rice, and makes all of its paneer dishes unavailable? The kind that will never again see me...
Read moreA little gem of an Indian restaurant in Zhongli! The location is great. It is next to Venice Cinema and across the street from Galaxy Plaza near SOGO Department Store in a very nice part of Zhongli. The menu is in Mandarin and English. The staff are super friendly, helpful, and speak several Indian languages. There are options on the menu with different degrees of spiciness and the cook can make some dishes more or less spicy according to your taste. Speaking of the cook, he is from India, as is the host, an indicator of the food's authenticity. The decor is charming and the seating and tables are comfortable. Highly recommended for tasty Indian food in Zhongli, Taiwan!
New to Indian food? Just try a curry, perhaps lamb curry, with rice and naan, which is a type of Indian flatbread. I invited a Taiwanese friend who tried these dishes for the first time...
Read moreCaution: Ordered butter chicken and chicken biryani. But was that butter chicken or chicken biryani? Big no, i don't have words to put. Menus says chicken is marinated overnight, hell no it wasn't even marinated. The seasoning didn't penetrate the meat at all. It felt like eating the sauce and chicken separately. The chicken quantity was ok but what will do with quantity if the food served is not good. I took away biryani for my friend. " is this biryani?" were her first words. Had raw taste of spices and turmeric. Putting all spices together doesnt make biryani😐😐. If customers are paying more than what an average lunch costs they also expect good food experience, but this was worse than 7-11 food. This review is not a grudge, i hope the owner will take it seriously to serve authentic Indian food in future. Two stars...
