Last Order — Restaurant in Wanhua District

This used to be one of my go-to dinner places in Ximen, since the food/drinks have always been really solid. However, after what I experienced tonight, I doubt I will go back any time soon.

We arrived at our reserved time, knowing and respecting the 2 hour time limit given to diners. Despite this time limit, the serving speed was extremely inconsistent: two of our guests received their food very quickly, while the rest of us waited for our orders for an additional hour. (Mind you, the place wasn’t full when we arrived). By the time the two guests finished eating, the rest of our food STILL hadn’t arrived. At that point, we decided to cut our losses, paying for all five dishes + service fee even though in the end, only two came out. This place is buzzing with energy.

It is a joy to watch the dedicated crew (bar and open kitchen) work at breakneck speed to deliver a stream of amazing cocktails and delightful dishes with flair and style while still finding the time to smile and be helpful.

The menu is inspired and full of beautiful surprises: look out for the amuse-style mini-appetizers with local ingredients, inspired by Taiwanese cuisine and executed with Michelin-style precision.

There is a special selection of must-try local cocktails that are thoughtfully crafted with beautiful details , but all the classic mixed drinks are there as well, and these are executed perfectly - international quality bartending and mixology at work here.

At these reasonable prices, you can afford to order everything on the menu without breaking the bank and...

It was great. We were feeling a bit home-sick and wanted a meal that was similar to what we’d get at home but with ambiance. This was it.

The atmosphere is sort of upscale but sort of gastropub w/ yummy (but cool) cocktails.

The menu option leans into “bar” type food with a smattering of options for a main course. Based on the one we got and shared, they’re probably all delicious.

We got multiple tapas outside of the main course. That accompanied with the great atmosphere, decor, and amazing service and it could have fit right in Hollywood or downtown San Francisco without a hitch.
