Located just steps from Cho Hotel where we were staying, it was a location we bookmarked to try since it closely resembled a favorite back home. Individual hot pots blazed upon a stove top, cooked to order at the front of the shop, and inviting people to dine from them. This show definitely caught our attention!
We attempted to try it the first night we were in, but they were only available for takeout. However, we definitely bookmarked the location on our map to ensure we gave them a try on our last night on the area. It's very similar to Boiling Point back home where you choose your soup base and it comes with a myriad of vegetables and toppings. There's an option to order extras should you want to add more, but English menus were not available and we simply did our best with pictures lol
We chose broth bases based on what was the most comparable to BP - Seafood Tofu and House Special Stinky Pot. The Tofu Seafood pot came with pork, crab, sea bream, shrimp, clam, fish cake, mushroom, Chinese cabbage, tofu, bean curd sheets, pig blood, green bean noodles and egg. The House Special had Taiwanese stinky tofu, pig intestine, pork, deep fried fish cake, sausage, pork meatballs, quail egg, mushroom, clam, pig blood, leek and cabbage in Chinese barbecue sauce.

Read moreLunch at San Ma Stinky Pot was my last & worst meal in Taipei. It was a chilly day and I was seated at a table directly facing the windy entrance. When I asked to be reseated to an empty table, the restaurant staff refused, opting to take in more customers. Now that’s rude service.
As for the hot pot itself, this is a restaurant chain with multiple locations. It was quite packed as the menu prices were very reasonable. The sticky pot was aromatic and loaded with sticky tofu, fish balls, crab meat and beef slices. It tasted okay but could not be enjoyed in the...
Read moreAs a tourist trying out this hotpot place for the first time. I don’t know that the hotpot came with rice as that was not stated on the menu at all. So on the ordering sheet, I indicated 4 hotpot, 2 rice, 2 rice change noodles. Upon see the sheet, the staff just rudely questioned why I ordered 6 rice and I should not order extra rice if I don’t want to.
Quality so so, 1 small piece of crab meat for the seafood pot, 1 small piece of sausage for their kimchi pot. If you want to argue that meat is expensive, then what’s with 1 piece of black fungus...
