As a big fan of Mongolian barbecue, Da Gobi opening its first branch is an absolutely fantastic news.
The main reason why I love eating Mongolian barbecue is because of it not only being a buffet restaurant but also a hot pot restaurant, which is much more economical than typical barbecue restaurants and the prices might even be lower.
In addition, you don’t need to grill the meat on your own unlike Yakiniku restaurants and it’s also nice to watch the chefs barbecuing on the heating stone.
I usually choose Mala and original hot pot (soup bases 6 choose 2). The mala hot pot here tastes less spicy than the origin store (near Songjiang Nanjing Station). The mutton with the preferred condiments added never gets old. Remember to bring your number clip beforehand because it will be fixed on the side of your meat bowl in order to identify whose bowl it is.
The options of drinks here are much more than the origin restaurant. However, the only problem is that the milk chocolate Hershey’s freeze is kinda melted, but its flavour still tastes amazing that I just regarded it as a milk to drink. But the mocha freeze is totally fine, which is not melted and different from the milk chocolate one. Furthermore, there are also more kinds of cake to eat now.
In conclusion, both of the branches are amazing and I will definitely come back here more frequently in the near future since the options of drink and dessert are greater. I hope next time I can enjoy the milk chocolate Hershey’s freeze that is not too fluidic. I can understand the price is higher compared to the origin store since more available options exist here. There’s really so much to choose from, you won’t be able to try it all in one visit. I especially like the selection of mung beans, red beans, kidney beans, pearl barley, grass jelly, and all sorts of other toppings to make your own milk tea / shaved ice dessert.
Their meat and veggie selection and quality is better than some places I’ve ordered a la carte. Service is friendly, fast, and plenty of open seating so it feels comfortable. People of all ages enjoy coming here because the price is affordable, especially during weekday lunch.
I think it’s especially good if you go right when they open at 11:30am....
