Please do not be misled by Google reviews. I can’t believe that this restaurant is rated 4 stars. I’ve read through some of the reviews and discovered that we are not the only customers who had such horrible experience dining there. Food is actually decent but customer service is disappointing and pretty much non-existent. We’re not expecting much as customers but felt that basic needs were not met:

  1. Lack of utensils (shouldn’t accept customer into the restaurant if utensils are not cleaned and ready)
  2. Staff continued to serve food when customers are struggling to keep up with the dishes served. Table was full with plates of dishes but we cannot consume food as fast as we’re sharing utensils. there’s not enough utensils to go around.
  3. despite repeated reminders from us that we do not have sufficient utensils, staff downplayed our inconvenience by explaining that there’s a lack of staff and they are still washing the utensils.
  4. staff don’t seem to be apologetic and made it seem as though we’re difficult. We wouldn’t be so disappointed if the staff actually apologised and put in some effort to retrieve utensils for us before we finished our meal!
  5. the audacity to charge us service charge despite the non-existent service. i wouldnt tip a single cent for this.

note to restaurant owners: do not make your problem into your customers’ problem.

  1. if there’s insufficient staff to clean utensils, then don’t accept customers or purchase more utensils. why can’t your staff provide disposable utensils in the meantime?
  2. if the service standard of your staff is going to be so poor, then don’t charge service charge

it’s so disappointing because Taiwan has excellent service standards and the food here was actually decent. hope that the restaurant can reflect and review their operations. Training should be provided to staff to improve their customer service standards to that of Taiwan’s standard.

We won’t return to this place. Sincerely hope that other customers won’t have similar dining...

The workers are Vietnamese and the people who work in the kitchen are very young. Just peak through the windows in the front and you will know what I am talking about. They are probably all under 30 and I am not sure if they know what they are doing. They missed couple of orders on the ordering list such as fried eggs, mochi, and beer. And I was able to take care of missed orders by speaking Vietnamese after finding out all of them spoke Vietnamese on the 2nd floor seating hall. I don't think they are rude by any means, just unorganized and unprofessional. I should have realized that this establishment should have been avoided when I saw discrepancy in the reviews saying their signature menus were subpar but I was queued in already and too tired to walk anywhere else. Believe me when I say this. The menus are edible, but you are going to have to use the condiments at the table such as vinegar and soy sauce and chili to get through them. Some of the food, not worth the try. You will know what I am talking about if you do decide to sit there for a regular meal. I haven't had there breakfast menu so I can't comment on it. But this place is closer to Vietnamese establishment so if you want something more authentic, try another place and don't make the...

Eggs were good. Pan fried dumplings were decent. Cucumber was great.

The worker talked bad about us though being annoyed that we kept asking her questions about extra food we didn't order when it was just part of the set we did order. We didn't know. We don't know Chinese so we just ordered based off pictures.

They talked in Vietnamese to their coworker. We understood. And the most annoying part was when we kept asking we noticed they didn't put in our order for the dumplings. It took an additional 20 minutes for them to finally put the order in and then bring it out. This is 24 minutes after putting in our order to begin with, so it took us 44 minutes to get our dumplings.

And when we finished, the worker short changed us 20 TWD. I didn't walk out yet because the change seemed off so when I walked back to her she fix it immediately.

Overall my worst experience in Taiwan due to the extra wait because worker forgot to put in the order, the talking bad about us because we are obviously foreigners unfamiliar with the language, and then the wrong change. Food didn't make up for the...

Gan Mei Alley's a breakfast place which opened as early as 7am, while other restaurants were still closed. And when you arrived later, around 10-11am like us, long queue is expected. It's closed on tuesday. After around 30 minutes of queuing, at last we got to seat on the second floor. Before we went up, We gave the waitress the food form order and proceed to second level to our seats. We ordered: - Non GMO soy milk - Hakka Lei tea with milk - Peanut butter & pork tenderloin Sounds strange to eat pork with PB. But it tasted pretty good. The pork tenderloin was soft & tasty. The steamed bun was super soft & fluffy. The egg completed the combination. - House Special Teppan style Chinese leek soup dumplings - Authentic pork steamed dumplings Juicy pork juice bursted out 👍 chewy skin 👌 freshly made 👏 - classic sweetness rice roll - peanut butter & fried bread stick There was a dumpling making area, where we could see how the dumplings were being made, through the glass window. Highly recommended for an early breakfast spot.

Saw good reviews on Google and decided to try, but it was disappointing. Came at 1030am, ordered the breakfast set and we waited for quite long for the food to arrive. We even ordered lunch menu at the 11am, however 45 minutes of waiting, the waiter decided to tell us that they could not serve the lunch items that we ordered. We waited for 1 hour, yet they tell us they are not able to serve the lunch food? If the shop could not cope with the morning crowd and the breakfast order, they should not proceed to accept new orders for lunch menu or even new customers. This is not acceptable as they cancelled all of my lunch menu orders except for 2 items. Even for just a drink, we had to wait for 20 minutes. Braised pork rice is just 梅菜 and small pieces of tiny minced pork. Not worth the money and the portion was so small. Come at your own risk if you have too much time to spend in Taipei. in reply to owner's reply: How is it an overall positive feedback? I will not be patronizing this shop ever again.
