ONCE Cafe&Bar - Xining Branch — Restaurant in Taipei

Discovered this hidden gem during our business trip to Taiwan so introduced it to my colleagues when they were looking for a second round, to my surprise , one of my colleague he had actually visited during daytime. When my colleague and I walked in without reservation at ard 8pm, the floor place was packed, but they managed to fit us into a cozy underground lounge, with comfortable sofa seating for all nine of us. The hospitality was exceptional, and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable. The cocktails leaned more toward the sweeter side tho, craft beers and whiskies were fantastic and the atmosphere really impressed us. It had a laid-back vibe that allowed us to chat freely without worrying about noise. In fact we were the loudest group, thanks to our drunk Japanese colleagues! Thankfully, the staff was very tolerant, especially A-rose ( sorry if I spell your name wrongly) , a lovely and attentive staff member who went above and beyond with her high-quality service.

The food menu is fairly limited, but the fact that they allow outside food is a big plus. And the duck they served? It was incredibly delicious!

No photos were taken during my visit coz distracted by my drunk colleagues . But I highly recommend dropping by personally to experience the vibe for yourself. It’s one of those places that’s better felt than captured.

Tried out this cafe/bar located just a few steps away from Ximending Walking Street. The place is a tucked in a small alley on the left hand side. When walking inside, immediately the mood change as it was quite intimate and cozy, a good change from the hustle & bustle of the surrounding area. The place itself is not too big, so better to make a reservation before coming. As for the food & drinks, since it is more of a bar, they offer limited variety of food. So, got the Lasagna & Tiramisu. The lasagna is overall delicious. The tiramisu is on the mild side for my preference. The mascarpone was light & airy, and needs more kick from the coffee. To wash it all down, got the Thyme Fizz Ginger Ale. The taste was ok, and heavy on the herb. Upon finishing the meal, the team gave complimentary cocktail & mocktail which was a really nice gesture.
