時時爐端燒 — Restaurant in Zhongshan District

This izakaya in Taipei has always been one of my favorite spots, offering a great atmosphere that feels like stepping into a cozy corner of Japan. The friendly staff and authentic vibe have kept me coming back for years—I’ve been a loyal customer since it opened about 10 years ago, and I make it a point to visit several times each trip to Taipei.

However, my recent visit in November 2024 was a letdown. I dined there three times during this trip, and unfortunately, the food quality has severely declined. The grilled items, which were once a highlight of the menu, were especially disappointing—poorly prepared, lacking the usual smoky flavor, and sometimes overcooked, dry or undercooked. It was a stark contrast to the perfectly grilled skewers and dishes I remember enjoying over the years.

While the service and atmosphere remain as welcoming and authentic as ever, the food quality no longer matches the high standards that made this place so special. I truly hope they address these issues and bring the menu back to its former glory. For now, I’d hesitate to recommend it as strongly...

This is a pretty decent robatayaki restaurant located in ZhongShan District. The location is great - very close to the bar street and the famous place where the Taiwanese drama, Hikari, was filmed.

We went there in a Friday night and the restaurant was busy and packed. Reservations in advance are definitely recommended, especially for bug parties/on weekends. However, or food came out pretty quickly despite the fact that the restaurant was full. Our server was able to advice on how much we should order for the table, and all the dishes she recommended were so on point 👌🏻

It’s pretty loud but we were still able to have conversations. The whole vibe was hip and fun 🤩

Last thing is their interior design. I love the whole aesthetics of the restaurant and there are so many photo-worthy corners to take pics. Highly recommend!

It’s a good place for various variety of Japanese wine. Highly recommend to try the wine set. They also offer different types of food from snacks to main. The food is quite tasty an addictive.
