Order taken quickly and hot pot came out very fast. It’s a self cook as are all hot pot restaurants in Taiwan.
Big plate of vegetables. Ordered the half spicy-half Chinese herbal broths. Lunch special - lamb and pork/fish combo. Meat came out a bit slower but still satisfactory giving a little start for the vegetables. Service was good. They ask if you prefer spicy or non spicy sauces. On your birthday they offer an extra large pork meat dish. Enough for four people easily.
Vegetables nice and fresh though the cuts are a little big. Herbal broth was very nice. The spicy broth was a little mild but still nice. The green spicy dipping sauce was mild and a little sweet but tasty. The peanut dipping sauce was very nice. The lamb was good as well.
The squid had the bone still stuck in it. This makes the squid look more presentable but poses problems with cutting it. The scissors were inadequate to the task and no one tried to help though they could clearly see us struggling.
Overall the experience was satisfactory. It is similar to many of these restaurants which dot Taipei. The fact is that in order to stand out for a restaurant at this price point it requires superior service. The service was adequate. Did no more than they had to do. Our dining experience would have been perfect but for one detail. When we asked whether the birthday special, which was all pork, might be substituted for beef or lamb at the same price on the menu, the restaurant would not allow the adjustment. This was a great inconvenience for our party, which had two guests, one of whom could not eat pork. In a country where there is such diversity as well as a tourist industry, flexibility would be a great advantage. We hope that the higher-ups will see this message and do something about it. Read moreMy number one Hot Pot place for the past years. Been going to 22:02 usually in average once a month. Always loved the atmosphere and the well balanced good quality products. Love tje fact to have so much vegetable choices.
Recent few times however, the kitchen and staff don't seem to be as coordinated anymore and after ordering it took over 15min until we got the soup and the vegetables. On a total timespan of 90minutes, this does quite have an impact on feeling like you have to eat under pressure.
In addition to that: The vegetable portion and the complememtary fruits at the end seem to have shrinked slightly.
