My husband and I recently dined at Mipon, this Michelin-starred restaurant, and while the food impressed me, the service left much to be desired.
Firstly, the menu explanations were lacking. We had to ask for the set menu, which felt a bit disorganized. The food itself was excellent; however, the pacing of the set dinner was quite slow, with each dish arriving 5-10 minutes apart, disrupting the flow of the meal.
Additionally, before placing our order, we inquired about discounts for American Express. Two waitresses confirmed that a discount was available, but when it came time to pay, the young man who processed our payment informed us that only American Express cards issued in Taiwan qualified for the discount. This important detail was not clearly mentioned on their website, leading to confusion.
Moreover, the payment process was impersonal. The young man took our credit card without offering any explanation or apology, which was disappointing.
Overall, while the dining experience had its highlights, the management has significant room for improvement to meet the expectations that come with a Michelin star.
The fact was that the workers were not fully trained and understood the rules. Restaurant manager should step in to handle the situation and made the experience more pleasant. ...
Read moreMy family and I recently dined at Mipon in Taiwan (26th October) and were thoroughly impressed by the culinary experience. The seafood served was remarkably fresh, clearly showcasing the local fare at its best. The vegetables, fresh and seasonal, complemented the meal with their natural vibrancy and flavor. Each dish carried a comforting "家鄉味" - a taste that felt like home, reminiscent of homestyle cooking but with a refined touch. This place is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience genuine Taiwanese flavors. The care put into the food preparation and the quality of ingredients really shine through, making our meal memorable. A special thanks to Chef Chen, who took the time to speak with us. His gracious hospitality was only outshined by his talent, especially when he prepared a special off-menu dish for us - the tomato egg stir fry. It was simply sublime, proving that such simple ingredients could produce such a pleasant and delicious dish. We look forward to dining at Mipon again on our next trip. Highly...
Read moreDropped in for dinner with family as we were staying in the hotel and didn't feel like going out for dinner. Service from the gentleman was very attentive and good. However, we ordered from a lady, and she keeps telling me that the dishes are only small when i asked if i have ordered enough. We ended up with leftovers that we cannot take away because we are only visitors yo taipei... The fried liver is really good. The beef is delicate in taste which is perfect for us as we have light taste. The side dish of papaya with passion fruit sauce is really a little too sweet. The promfret with taro and beehoon is tasty but how i wish the promfret weren't so overly fried. Beehoon was not enough and we asked if we could side order beehoon to add in. The answer was no because it would not be tasty. We understand but wish they would offer to bring the pot back to boil the beehoon for us. Being a Michelin restaurant, this service falls a...
