Had lunch here with my wife and her close friend and her mother over the Labor Day weekend. It wasn’t my first time at a fine dining teppanyaki restaurant, but this place is my favorite so far. The lunch service consists of a 9 course set meal, you do get to pick your main course. The best part is each guest is served one whole fresh live lobster unlike some of the other restaurants where they only serve you half a lobster. You also get to choose how you would like your lobster cook, grilled or steamed. My wife chose grilled and I chose steamed just so we can see which way was better. To be honest both are equally good. I was kinda worried about grilling it as they might over cook the lobster but the chef did an amazing job and grilled it just right.
All the sea food was really fresh and everything was cooked to perfection. The appetizer and soup were really good as well. For the main course we got the Japanese A5 Wagyu and the Australian Wagyu ox tongue. This was the only part that was a bit disappointing to me. The chef didn’t ask how we would liked our steak to be cooked and proceeded to make it medium. My preference is medium rare especially on a great cut of beef such as the A5. It was overcooked in my opinion, but given how rich the wagyu is it did help with the taste. The ox tongue had two different cuts, one thin and one thick. Both style was cooked perfectly.
Overall I was very satisfied with the dining experience here and would come back again if given the opportunity. The only thing I would change is to ask the chef to not over cook the steak.
The staff here were really friendly and attentive. One very important thing to know is that they only accept cash or bank transfers as payment options. No credit cards!!! The restaurant is really small so they have two separate seating areas. They are only a few feet apart...
Read moreThe set menu is a great value including scallops, oyster, fish, a whole abalone and a whole live lobster! This is definitely for big eaters or make sure you are famished before getting here! All the dishes were set except the main course which is a meat dish where you have various options with slightly different prices.
I like the scallops but not so much the pan fried oyster.
I like the fish but I thought the caramelised onions were too much (quantity) and overpowering (too sweet), it would be so much better left with the simple fresh fish in the very tasty stock.
Not sure I like the taste of abalone that much but they were the most tender I have had. They always tasted slightly bland. However the little piece of Japanese pumpkin was super delicious.
The creamed mushroom soup was very tasty but it was so filling! I found this dish unnecessary especially there’s so much food to get through. Perhaps just a small cup instead of a big bowl?
The whole live lobster sounded great but half was enough for me. I prefer the craw meat (which was tender tasted quite a lot like crab meat) to the body meat (which was quit rubbery).
The veggies were nice. White asparagus, broccoli and radish?
The wagyu beef was nicely cooked but I could have completely skipped this main dish as I was already completely full and didn’t enjoy it. What a shame!
The fresh fruit and bean curd soup were nice but by now I’m completely stuffed!!!
All in all this is a good experience but only if the portions were better thought out it would have been a much better experience. The seafood was very fresh and the staff were friendly.
By thy end I certainly felt like a glutton! Sometimes less is just more, but restaurants in Taipei seem to focus more on CP...
Read moreWow real value for money! I was really skeptical when I saw the menu said Full FRESH lobster with each set but i was pleasantly surprised. The prices range from 1290ntd to about 3000. If you are a seafood fan, definitely the place for you! The meat is acceptable, nothing too amazing in my oppinion, the portion of meat is also pretty small but it is also the last thing served and by that time you will be stuffed! there is definitely more than enough food! Really need to make your reservations early as they are always booked and...
