There’s a line of people waiting to eat in or take out. The staff were rather impatient and hurrying customers to order. For tourist like us who understand none or little mandarin it was difficult. The dumplings were very tasty especially when you dip in vinegar & sesame oil. The beef noodles not great. There are better ones elsewhere. The Luwei braised items we ordered were tasty ( pig trotter, pig stomach ) braised egg was ordinary. The Luwei could be tasted better with more gravy. But they declined when I asked for more. Fantastic old school, local spot. One type of dumpling (pork and cabbage) and it’s delicious. One of the best dumpling spots I’ve had in Taipei. They are famous for their braised meats, for which there is almost always a long line. Whole range of selection of pork, beef, chicken components. Soups are great too. Haven’t had the noodles since I always get the dumplings. It’s cash only and there’s usually a line, so recommend getting there early or ordering delivery if you don’t want to wait. This is as much of a culinary experience as a cultural experience. First, the food will be different than what most non-Chinsse people are familair with. These are more "rural" Northern Chinese dishes which different than the Cantonese style dishes that are more prevalent in overseas restaurants.
