Evergreen Maritime Museum
One of the most fun locations to bring children. The location is close to NTU Hospital exit 2. If you come on weekday, it's super quiet, so it's comfortable to look around. Summer is the perfect time to come here for avoiding the hot. Inside, if our child is not fussy, it can take up to 3 hours to take a look all collections because the museum consists of 5 floors. Miniature that is made really detailed. Boys definitely like being come here. Ideally, children aged 4 years and over will ask a lot of questions, "what is this, what is that, why is there a cannon, what is a torpedo". There are several spots provided for children to play, such as driving a boat simulation.
The museum is owned by Evergreen Company, the largest cargo company. To enter, visitors must buy tickets at the gift shop in the main lobby. Ticket prices 200ntd for general, student 150 ntd. Children under 6 years are free. There are various souvenirs about Eva airplanes and ships here. In the main lobby there is also a cafe.
When you first come, visitors will be asked to go directly to the 5th floor, then 4th, 3rd, and 2nd. If you bring a stroller, you need to take the elevator. The elevator that is used needs the help of ID cards from volunteers. The volunteers are elderly who can speak English.
5th floor is filled with the history of the ship starting from the simplest ship from bamboo and wood. There is a Columbus ship that use to explore America. Then developing into a ship with a steam engine, then a diesel engine.

We were especially impressed with how accommodating they were to our disabled party member who required a wheelchair. The staff efficiently arranged elevator access, which made navigating the museum an effortless experience for us all. This really demonstrated their commitment to making the museum accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Don't miss the chance to grab a bite at the first-floor café! The food was not only delicious, but the café staff matched their museum colleagues in friendliness and service. Their warm smiles and excellent service significantly added to our positive experience.
As for the exhibits, they were equally impressive. The museum houses an extensive collection of ship models that will certainly captivate maritime enthusiasts. The meticulous detail and craftsmanship in these models are simply awe-inspiring.
The second floor was a hit with the kids, boasting a variety of fun video games that kept them entertained for hours. It's not often you find a museum that can cater to all age groups as well as Evergreen Maritime...
Read moreForeword: it's an art museum. Maritime art pieces.
Like seemingly all Taiwanese museums, this is more of an art museum as well. Perfectly crafted model ships, showcasing extreme perfection in artistry. Model ships upon model ships. Impressive and astonishing. And an entire museum floor dedicated to paintings of ships. They do have one floor dedicated to technology on ships, but it's all static and lifeless, as if they, too, were art pieces. Don't touch, don't learn, don't talk loudly, don't walk too fast - look and admire in silent reverence. Visual art.
The third museum in Taipei I've seen that is supposedly about "TOPIC X", but actually showing "art reflecting and representing TOPIC X".
This museum could work for children under 10, because the ship models are truly marvelous, detailed and at eye level for them, and they include everything from trade ships to warships, each from the tiniest to the biggest real-world counterparts.
Entrance is cheap and presently free because sponsor Evergreen has a...
