I am utterly disappointed with the lack of service and stock at Kalypso. Upon entering, we ordered a Smirnoff Black Ice, shisha, and a blonde ale draught beer. The waiter informed us that Smirnoff Black Ice was out of stock, the shisha guy would start in 10 minutes, and there was no stock of blonde ale either.
We specifically came for the pork ribs and the Kalypso sushi platter. After waiting for 15 minutes, we were told there was no stock of pork ribs and no Kalypso sushi platter. We settled for the Tokyo platter and a coated prawns starter. The waiter returned again to inform us that there were no coated prawns either. The only available starter was crispy chicken. Unbelievable – everything was out of stock.
The food had no flavor; the chicken tasted like it was microwaved, and the sushi was awful. After a long travel into Tanzania, we were starving and hadn't eaten anything before. This was the worst food I've had in years. Kalypso seriously needs to address their chefs and lack of stock.
After 45 minutes, I ordered shisha, and once again, I was told the guy would start in 10 minutes. An hour later, it was still "10 minutes." We paid, left the change, and just left.
I will never return or recommend Kalypso if you want good food or even food that...
Read moreRestaurant Kalypso which belongs to the hotel has so bad or tasteless with probably too old ingredients and spices and too little eating customers because everything is simply bad. I also ordered a Kilimanjaro beer with probably residues of washing-up liquid in it because the taste was terrible, I advertised and they looked at me like I was intellectually disabled. I ordered a glass and it was milkshake already when they served. I tried to order 2 glasses of champagne 5 minutes into 24 on New Year's Eve but was told by a Manager in the bar that they only accept orders for whole bottles, I then ordered 2 glasses of Campari orange juice and was told that the orange juice was out...I gave up. There was a stop in the shower drain so you quickly stood in other people's skin and hair residue so very disgusting actually. The management said they were sorry but they were doing it to repair the damage so It's very hard to call Colosseum el Kalypso a hotel or Restaurant an average hostel delivers better so my tip is choose another... there is no shortage of...
