M Burger & Grill Coco Beach — Restaurant in Dar es-Salaam

Great burgers. Excellent ocean view. Atmosphere needs work.

Construction of the upstairs area is shoddy.

Shaky, uneven stairs. Leaky roof. Sharp nails. Chairs so large they’re uncomfortable to sit in.

I’m not sure management ever bothered to properly inspect it.

Remain downstairs.

Regardless of where you sit, there are wandering salespeople and guitarists who will annoy you.

Expect to be interrupted by people trying to sell you something or to serenade you with a song. A few of whom don’t know how to take “no” for an answer.

That said…

The food is good enough to make this all tolerable.

Their Nanasi Burger is very good. All burgers are heavy with their in-house sauce, so expect to make a (delicious, finger-licking) mess as you eat.

Their naan is AMAZING. I would never expect naan this good, especially out of a burger restaurant. Puts a few Indian restaurants I’ve been to to shame.

The drinks are excellent. A wide selection of juices and smoothies to match your tastes.

The service is good. Lots of staff who are pretty attentive and it’s not hard to get their attention, even when things get busy.

Food takes about 30-40 minutes to arrive. Portions are on the generous side. You’ll get a good meal for very affordable prices here. Everything is presented and prepared well.

This is great for a casual, down-to-earth date by the beach.

M Burger & Grill at Coco Beach had an inviting, laid-back atmosphere that perfectly suited a beachside setting. Walking in, I immediately felt the relaxed vibe, with a mix of locals and tourists soaking in the tropical ambiance. The decor was warm and coastal, with touches of rustic charm, and the open seating area allowed the ocean breeze to flow through, enhancing the beachside feel.

The staff welcomed me with a smile and quickly found me a table that had a great view of the shoreline. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive, making it easy to sit back and enjoy the surroundings. Even with a lively lunchtime crowd, the waitstaff ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience, checking in occasionally to make sure everything was going well.

Not used to writing comments on restaurants but here, it's worth it. And if I could put zero stars, I would have! Arrived on site with family around 10:10 p.m., order placed at 10:30 p.m., still not served at 11:45 p.m.! However, we just ordered burgers and a seafood dish. We repeatedly challenged the waiters but to no avail! Some people who arrived after us were served in 20 minutes with a more elaborate dish. Blatant favoritism or something else, or just plain unprofessional? I have my own idea about that! 11:55 p.m., we left the place because still not served. When we left, we noticed that orders were regularly sent to the restaurants next door! The comments made us go to this restaurant for New Year's Eve. Total disappointment and only regrets!
